Position Charter The Senior Payroll and Tax Administrator will process payroll for multiple companies and facilitate the administration of Personal Property Tax Returns. Reporting Relationships This position reports to the Controller, Treasury and Tax.

Requirements

  • Payroll processing experience in HRIS software, preferably Paycom.
  • Experience processing garnishments.
  • Knowledgeable of payroll compliance, labor laws, and wage/hour regulations.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and analysis skills.
  • Demonstrates effective collaboration across multiple departments, including Finance, Human Resources, Benefits, and management teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience or knowledge of general tax concepts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly and monthly payrolls for multiple companies with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review Time and Attendance prior to processing payroll.
  • Maintain and update employee tax records, including live-in, work-in, and school district tax configurations.
  • Handle special payroll transactions such as bonuses, commissions, and miscellaneous payments.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports to internal accounting teams.
  • Accurately calculate final paychecks for terminated employees in compliance with applicable state laws, ensuring inclusion of Paid Personal Leave and Personal Holiday entitlements, where applicable.
  • Update and maintain imputed taxes.
  • Prepare and submit Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and 401(k) wire transfer requests.
  • Provide documentation and support for the annual financial audit and 401(k) plan audit.
  • Assist with year-end payroll close and review of W2s and P60 (UK).
  • Maintain and update Power of Attorney (POA) and Third-Party Administrator (TPA) documentation for state agencies as required.
  • Collaborate closely with Human Resource Information System (HRIS) provider to ensure payroll taxes are current and remain in good standing.
  • When necessary, proactively file or amend tax returns to prevent potential Previous Pay Adjustment (PPA) fees.
  • Register new state withholding and State Unemployment Tax Act (SUTA) accounts for companies as needed.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll and payroll tax matters, ensuring clear, accurate, and timely communication.
  • Work with the Tax Department on the Administration of Personal Property Tax filings.
  • Enter Personal Property Tax billings into the tax software.
  • Prepare billback allocations for Accounts Receivable.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by management.
