Common Justice develops and advances solutions to violence that transforms the lives of those harmed and foster racial equity without relying on incarceration. Locally, we operate the first alternative-to-incarceration and victim-service programs in the United States to focus on violent felonies in adult courts. Nationally, we leverage the lessons from our direct service to transform the justice system through partnerships, advocacy, and elevating the experience and power of those most impacted. Rigorous and hopeful, we build practical strategies to hold people accountable for harm, break cycles of violence, and secure safety, healing, and justice for survivors and their communities. Primary Responsibilities: System Partnerships and Participant Engagement: Build and maintain partnerships in District Attorney's offices and with the Defense Bar; Advocate on behalf of the program and potential participants to stakeholders as appropriate; Liaise with external stakeholders/partners; Develop and maintain community partnerships in assigned borough for referrals; Identify and evaluate potential cases for our trauma support services and alternative to incarceration program; Manage and assess case referrals; Conduct outreach to harmed parties (survivors); Conduct intakes and assessments including community visits with responsible parties (defendants); Prepare and organize all documents for intakes and pleas; Responsible for representing Common Justice as needed at regular court appearances; pre-plea and including plea; Conduct CLEs and other presentations to outside partners; Restorative Justice Circle Facilitation: Coordinate and facilitate restorative justice accountability circles; manage all scheduling, planning and preparation of circle attendees. Serve as a thought partner for the Direct Service team in addressing any challenges that arise surrounding circle; Contribute to the management and training of the circle surrogate pool as needed; Provide as needed support for staff who facilitate welcome circles; Facilitate welcome circles as needed; Team and Projects: Generate and execute creative pathways for case referrals; Assist with the development and maintenance of training materials for system partners; Assist with facilitating training & development and case conference meetings for direct service staff; Interface with system partners and represent Common Justice publicly as needed; Assist the Director of Outreach with setting goals and priorities for the department; Contribute to grant reporting and management; Manage data entry and audits; Collaborate and communicate effectively across all teams and departments; Supervise interns/externs as needed; Provide coverage cross-borough as needed; Work schedule Occasional evening and weekend work will be required
