Who we're looking for: Wolfspeed is seeking a Senior Operations Engineer to join our team at our Mohawk Valley facility in New York. This role will oversee test wafer management and drive operational efficiency initiatives across our silicon carbide manufacturing operations. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you will work cross-functionally with operations, process, equipment, and automation teams to optimize manufacturing efficiency and support our mission to lead the semiconductor industry in SiC technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or STEM-related field (Materials Science, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline)
  • 5+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing operations or related support roles
  • Demonstrated experience with automated Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and factory automation tools
  • Ability to manage complex projects with cross-functional teams to make data based decisions and deliver results

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data analysis tools and/or data engineering. SQL, Snowflake, Python, PowerBI, or similar tools is highly preferred.
  • Background in semiconductor process engineering or strategic operations roles.
  • Familiarity or certifications in Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma or other structured continual improvement methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Lead operational efficiency projects focused on cost reduction, cycle time improvement, and resource optimization
  • Drive automation initiatives in collaboration with MES and Automation teams to streamline workflows, data management, and create sustainable business processes
  • Analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and drive process improvements
  • Manage and optimize test wafer programs, including inventory control, contamination monitoring strategies, and lifecycle tracking and optimization
  • Partner with process, equipment, and automation teams to develop and implement processes that support optimization of test wafer and equipment resources
