Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (Master’s preferred)
  • 10+ years in powertrain engineering, mobility systems, or vehicle development
  • MATLAB/Simulink (modeling & simulation)
  • Teamcenter (PLM)
  • CREO (CAD) and 3D modeling tools
  • Automotive or heavy-duty vehicle systems (military ground vehicle experience preferred)
  • Ability to size and optimize powertrain subsystems
  • Experience leading design release and engineering lifecycle activities
  • Skilled in technical documentation and engineering presentations
  • Ability to work both independently and cross-functionally in complex programs

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with powertrain electrification (hybrid/electric systems)
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
  • Experience with proprietary or commercial simulation tools
  • Strong background in data analysis and CAD-based data interrogation
  • Proven experience developing analytical models and engineering toolsets

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and architect Full Up Powerpack (FUPP) configurations including engine, transmission, MGU (Motor Generator Unit), cooling, air handling, and final drive systems
  • Own design release from component through installation and assembly levels
  • Collaborate with suppliers on powerpack modules and components
  • Interface with cross-functional stakeholders including IPT Leads, Systems Engineering, Physical Architecture, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Chief Engineering
  • Support program milestones, design reviews, and gateway approvals
  • Develop and refine designs using GDLS processes and standards
  • Document and present technical findings, design decisions, and program updates
  • Develop and execute powertrain simulations for hybrid and electric systems
  • Model torque blending strategies in parallel hybrid architectures
  • Perform controller/logic tuning for fuel efficiency, battery charging, and vehicle range
  • Build thermal models for batteries, power electronics, and powertrain components
  • Support Battery Management System (BMS) modeling
  • Create multi-domain models integrating engines, e-machines, batteries, and electronics
  • Develop and enhance analytical toolsets for evolving vehicle architectures
