Pratt & Whitney's Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO) organization is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Turbine Airfoil Casting Team (TACT). This team plays a critical role in driving process improvement initiatives with casting suppliers and assessing nonconformance to support timely product delivery.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's of Science degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) and 5 years of experience in engineering, or an Advanced degree in a related field with 3 years of engineering experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Turbomachinery experience in Airfoil design or manufacturing
  • Proficiency in SAP, Teamcenter, Unigraphics NX, and classical methods of analysis
  • Experience with GD&T ASME Y14.5M-1994

Responsibilities

  • Support the airfoil casting tooling qualification process in accordance with PW-QA 6078 standards. This process is essential to maintaining the high-quality standards required for Pratt & Whitney’s industry-leading engines.
  • Disposition of airfoil casting tooling qualification packages per PW-QA 6078.
  • Disposition of quality defects, many of complex scope, defining “Right-size Analysis” through a risk-based decision-making process.
  • Influence multi-disciplinary teams, including subject matter experts, project, operations, quality, and procurement, to drive root cause investigations, develop associated corrective actions, and implement product and process improvements.
  • Support time-critical quality issues in support of engine and module delivery.
  • Develop Class II engineering changes.
  • Drive continuous improvement into the product development cycle and design of next-generation hardware.
