The Strategic Defense Solution engineering organization in Richardson, TX is seeking a highly motivated entry level Mechanical Engineer I. Our Mechanical Engineers participate in the design, development, and test of electronic equipment and integration kits for communication systems on military aircraft and transportable platforms. The selected candidate will learn to work closely with Systems, Electrical, and Manufacturing staff to assure defined requirements are consistently met in all phases of a product’s lifecycle. This role is onsite, in Richardson, Texas. This role may be eligible for relocation.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM), particularly in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Possession of an active U.S. government issued Secret or Top Secret clearance.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and make sound, well informed decisions.
  • Familiarity with computer aided design (CAD) modeling software, particularly Solidworks or similar.
  • Familiarity with analysis software, particularly ANSYS or similar.

Responsibilities

  • You will participate in design and development activities, including implementation of specifications and development of performance or maintenance requirements.
  • Learn engineering design processes to contribute to designs for components, parts, subassemblies, and assemblies.
  • You may perform analyses (thermal, structural, etc) to evaluate design function, cost effectiveness, and requirements adherence.
  • You will work with designers and drafters to create, modify, and release documentation such as part and assembly drawings.
  • You will participate in the execution of tests for systems, subsystems, and components.
  • Participate in the analysis of test results in relation to design and test objectives.
  • You will evaluate installations and recommends design modifications.
  • You will communicate effectively in a cross-functional team.
