The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for creating new products and enhancing existing product designs, drawings, and documentation—including those used in manufacturing and customer-facing applications. This role involves contributing to and guiding both current and future engineering development initiatives, supporting and overseeing product design verification testing, and collaborating with the test lab (Resolute Technologies) to ensure thorough product functionality and reliability assessments. Bachelor’s degree required (Science or Engineering major preferred)
3-5 years of 3D CAD knowledge is required (Solidworks preferred)
5+ years’ experience in Fiber Optics or Connector Design required

Plastics background a plus
Ability to travel
Computer experience including all Microsoft Office software programs

Responsibilities

Advanced 3D modeling skill set, ideally in Solidworks.
Working knowledge of Fiber Connector and Cable assembly
Able to take a concept design and make it reality
Conduct product testing and create models and prototypes
Ability to apply knowledge of engineering principles
Design and develop new products
Work with Patent Attorneys for Patents and Patent Clearances.
Lead projects and develop project plans
Work with Supply Chain to develop samples and parts delivery schedule timelines
Excellent communication skills – must interface successfully with other engineers, non-technical personal and with customers
