About The Position

Responsible for completing maintenance tasks on production equipment to keep machines running safely and efficiently. Safety: The Senior Mechanic will be responsible for individual compliance with all safety rules, regulations and policy procedures. Employee responsibilities include but are not limited to: Compliance with all facility safety rules and regulations. Reporting any unsafe practices and/or conditions to their supervisor. Maintaining floor safety discipline by interceding with fellow employees, who may engage in rule violations and/or unsafe, unhealthy activities. Communicating to management those employees who persist in violations of safety rules and/or procedures. Wearing required personal protective equipment properly and reporting any defective PPE. Reporting all near misses, accidents, injuries or illnesses, including Muscular Skeletal symptoms or disorders. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Senior Mechanic performs general maintenance tasks in production areas. Senior Mechanic diagnoses and repairs faulty production and related plant equipment with no supervision by using the provided schematics and drawings. Senior Mechanic is responsible for having all tools needed to perform tasks.Qualifications: For knowledge statements, according to the Uniform Section Guidelines issued by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the following definitions of knowledge are: Basic: General familiarity; awareness of universal principles and able to locate details/access resources. Individual has an understanding of a determinate number of functions or activities. Solid: Working knowledge; able to apply general principles. Individual has an understanding of most functions, operations or activities, including a general knowledge of applicable theory. Expert: Able to apply general principles and specific details. Individual has an understanding of virtually all functions, operations or activities, including full comprehension of applicable theory.

Requirements

  • Education: Solid -- Individual has obtained a Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Expert -- Individual has the ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Individual can respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Mathematical Skills: Solid -- Individual has the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Individual can apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability: Expert -- Individual has the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Individual can interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: No certificates, licenses, or registrations required to perform Senior Mechanic job.

  • Individual must have close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
  • Individual must have distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more).
  • Individual must have color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).
  • Individual must have depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships).
  • Individual must have the ability adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).

  • Doing any task assigned by a supervisor as long as it doesn't put the employee in an unsafe position
