The Senior Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for developing and executing integrated marketing and communications strategies that drive awareness, visitation, and engagement for OKANA, with a focus on local and regional marketing for OKANA, the Boardwalk, and community engagement. This role serves as a primary public-facing representative and brand ambassador for OKANA, acting as the voice of the brand in the local market and beyond. The Senior Marketing & Communications Manager leads brand storytelling across channels, builds and manages high-impact relationships with media, community partners, influencers, and VIPs, and ensures a consistent, elevated brand presence across digital platforms, on-property experiences, and external communications—while also stepping in front of the brand through media engagements, property tours, events, and real-time content moments as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field preferred.
  • 5–8+ years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, or PR, preferably in hospitality, lifestyle, retail, entertainment, or destination brands.
  • Proven experience serving as a public-facing brand ambassador, including hosting media or VIP engagements.
  • Skilled at capturing mobile-first photo and video content in dynamic environments.
  • Strong background in local marketing, community relations, and media relations.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills.
  • Basic understanding of HTML.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible schedule with availability for events, openings, and media opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Brand Ambassador, Content Capture & Public Presence Serve as a visible, trusted face of OKANA, representing the brand at community events, media engagements, openings, partnerships, and on-property activations.
  • Host and lead property tours for media, influencers, partners, and VIPs, delivering compelling brand storytelling and tailored experiences that showcase OKANA’s amenities, Boardwalk, and offerings.
  • Act as a brand steward, ensuring OKANA’s voice, values, and positioning are consistently and authentically represented in all external-facing interactions.
  • Capture high-quality, on-brand photo and short-form video content during events, tours, activations, and day-to-day property moments for use by OKANA’s social media agency.
  • Identify real-time storytelling opportunities and proactively share content, context, and insights with the agency to support timely posting and campaign execution.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media, influencers, community leaders, and VIP partners to enhance OKANA’s reputation and local presence.
  • Lead and execute local marketing initiatives that drive traffic, awareness, and spend for the OKANA Boardwalk, including restaurants, retail, entertainment, and seasonal activations.
  • Develop localized campaigns, promotions, and partnerships that connect OKANA to the surrounding community.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations to support openings, promotions, and on-property experiences.
  • Manage reputation management of all outlet’s including the Boardwalk.
  • Serve as a primary liaison between OKANA and the local community, tourism partners, chambers, nonprofits, and civic organizations.
  • Identify, cultivate, and manage community partnerships aligned with OKANA’s brand values and business goals.
  • Coordinate community events, sponsorships, and outreach initiatives.
  • Build, cultivate, and maintain strong, ongoing relationships with local, regional and national media and broadcast outlets in close partnership with OKANA’s Public Relations agency.
  • Serve as the on-the-ground lead for identifying media opportunities, facilitating introductions, and strengthening local press and broadcast presence for the brand.
  • Collaborate with the PR agency to develop and refine story angles and outreach strategies that align with OKANA’s positioning and business priorities.
  • Execute and support media needs that arise from these relationships, including coordinating interviews, facilitating on-site media visits, providing assets and information, and supporting broadcast and editorial coverage as needed.
  • Act as a local extension of the PR agency, ensuring seamless communication, responsiveness, and execution in the Oklahoma City market.
  • Own and protect OKANA’s brand voice across all written communications and storytelling.
  • Write and manage website content, including landing pages, promotional copy, and seasonal updates.
  • Lead blog strategy, including content planning, writing, editing, and performance analysis.
  • Manage online reputation platforms and guest review responses.
  • Develop and manage influencer and create partnerships with a focus on local, regional, and experiential alignment.
  • Host influencers on property and ensure content opportunities are captured and shared with the social agency.
  • Track performance and ROI of influencer initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary marketing owner of OKANA’s website, ensuring accuracy and brand consistency.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on SEO and enhancements.
  • Align website content with campaigns, PR, and social storytelling.
