The Manager, Marketing and Communications is responsible for managing NEEP's communications and marketing functions, ensuring clear and consistent messaging, a strong organizational voice, and a unified brand presence across all platforms. This role executes NEEP's communications strategy, oversees publication production, manages media engagement, and coordinates communications across internal teams and external partners. Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in marketing and communications; experience with energy policy, clean energy, or climate is preferred.
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Energetic and self-directed, with strong time management and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strategic and creative thinker with experience in organizational storytelling and brand positioning.
  • Collaborative, relationship-oriented, and motivated by mission; committed to advancing energy efficiency and sustainability in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, LinkedIn, and project management tools; familiarity with design software and Google Analytics is a plus.
  • Applicants must reside in one of NEEP's 13 states/jurisdictions in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region (Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute clear, compelling, and measurable communications plans, across all platforms, to reach key target audiences, in collaboration with program teams
  • Create and update communications messaging and talking points for strategic initiatives
  • Manage media strategies, including intake of communications requests and proactive outreach to media partners
  • Oversee content development and production for NEEP Notes, Allies Intel, and event materials
  • Maintain and update NEEP's website, in partnership with program experts
  • Manage social media presence with timely, engaging content
  • Support storytelling and messaging that inspire engagement among Allies, partners, and stakeholders
  • Manage relationships with media, develop media campaigns, etc.
  • Coordinate report launches and other project activities with other national and regional efforts, including author participation in selected conferences and workshops
  • Ensure internal coordination by aligning communications and materials across NEEP projects; actively contribute to staff meetings and organizational initiatives
  • Use analytics and performance metrics to prepare quarterly and annual progress reports
  • Apply data insights to inform communications strategies, adjust tactics, and improve stakeholder engagement
  • Ensure accountability for high-quality deliverables that reflect NEEP's mission and values
  • Develop and manage communications project timelines, staff milestones, and deliverables
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with NEEP partners, staff, and stakeholders
  • Manage subcontractor scheduling to provide timely and effective editorial and design services
  • Supervise the Associate, Marketing and External Relations, including oversight of website, social media, Allies membership engagement, and event support
  • Consult on engagement opportunities managed by program staff and guide approaches with an organizational lens
  • Support marketing and promotion of conferences, webinars, and other events to ensure strong sponsorship materials, consistent branding, high-quality content, and messaging, while contributing to strategy development and implementation across the region
