About The Position

The Marketing and Communications Manager leads the execution of marketing and communications efforts that promote the mission, programs, and community impact of Catholic Charities Worcester County through strategic storytelling, digital and print communications, media outreach, and public engagement. This role develops compelling content across multiple platforms, strengthens community awareness, supports brand consistency, and collaborates with program staff to elevate client and program stories that reflect the dignity and resilience of those served. This position focuses on execution and implementation of communications and marketing initiatives under the strategic direction of the Director of Strategic Outreach & Development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in marketing, communications, media relations, or related nonprofit or mission-driven work preferred.
  • Experience managing social media platforms and digital content creation required.
  • Experience with website content management systems preferred.
  • Experience with graphic design platforms such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools required.
  • Experience working in nonprofit, human services, healthcare, or community-based organizations preferred.
  • Strong storytelling, writing, and editing skills with the ability to communicate program impact to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear, compelling, and accessible messaging.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Creative thinking and initiative in identifying communications opportunities and storytelling strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint required.
  • Graphic design experience using Canva required; experience with Adobe Creative Suite or similar design platforms preferred.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact, Mailchimp, or similar tools preferred.
  • Ability to exercise professionalism and sound judgment when interacting with staff, clients, media representatives, and community partners.

  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events and outreach activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, create, and manage mission-aligned content across social media platforms, websites, newsletters and stories (print and online), print materials, and publications.
  • Build relationships with program staff, clients (as appropriate), volunteers, and community partners to identify and develop impactful stories highlighting agency services and outcomes.
  • Conduct interviews and gather content while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and client dignity.
  • Develop and manage communications content calendars and campaign timelines.
  • Draft, edit, and publish written content including articles, newsletters, press releases, blog posts, and promotional materials.
  • Ensure messaging aligns with agency mission, values, and branding standards.
  • Maintain and update agency website using WordPress, including program updates, news features, event information, and resource content.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure media content remains accurate, accessible, and engaging.
  • Manage and monitor agency social media platforms, including creating content, scheduling posts, responding to messages as appropriate, and maintaining consistent voice and brand identity.
  • Track engagement metrics across social media, website, and any other digital communications platforms and provide recommendations to strengthen outreach and visibility.
  • Develop and distribute periodic email communications, including newsletters, program updates, event promotions, and mission-focused storytelling content for subscriber audiences using email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact.
  • Design and produce marketing and promotional materials including brochures, flyers, event materials, signage, digital graphics, and agency publications using Canva.
  • Support development of visual storytelling through photography and videography at agency programs, events, and outreach activities.
  • Maintain visual brand consistency across all communications platforms and materials.
  • Organize and maintain photo, video, and communications asset libraries.
  • Proactively identify and develop story opportunities that highlight agency programs, client impact, and community need for media distribution.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local media outlets, parish communications teams, and community organizations.
  • Draft and distribute press releases and story pitches highlighting agency programs, initiatives, and community impact.
  • Coordinate media visits, interviews, and coverage opportunities.
  • Represent Catholic Charities Worcester County at outreach events, community presentations, tabling opportunities, and public engagements to promote agency services and mission awareness.
  • Collaborate with program staff to ensure communications accurately reflect services, client experiences, and community needs.
  • Provide project coordination support for agency communications initiatives and campaigns.
  • Maintain organized communications files, templates, and documentation.
  • Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a culture of safety through awareness, reporting, and safe work practices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Strategic Outreach & Development.
