Skydio is seeking a talented multi-disciplinary engineer to define, implement, and continuously improve the final assembly processes for our next generation of products. In this role, your contributions will drive quality, speed to market, productivity, and profitability.

Requirements

  • Experienced in manufacturing process development throughout the product development lifecycle, from early EVT (engineering validation test) to MP (mass production) with associated requirements for management of change.
  • Experienced in performing time-motion studies for manufacturing processes
  • Ability to perform basic modifications to electromechanical test fixtures and precision assembly tooling for continuous improvement projects.
  • Familiarity with 3D solid modeling of hardware parts and 2D modeling of production spaces
  • Enthusiasm for hands-on development of creative solutions to complex problems
  • Flexibility to support evening and weekend shift production
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, communication, and cross-functional teamwork skills
  • Understanding of databases and various program languages (MySQL, Python)
  • General understanding of MES and MRP systems

Responsibilities

  • Sustain the production of commercialized drones, docks, controllers by working closely with the operators on the production floor and quickly troubleshooting production problems to maximize station uptime.
  • Work with manufacturing design, test engineers, and external equipment vendors to develop improved work instructions, tooling, and automation.
  • Analyze assembly process cycle times and production line layouts to increase production capacity through material flow improvements, reducing waste, improving ergonomics, and utilizing other Lean Manufacturing best practices.
  • Drive manufacturing capacity modeling and expansions, working with manufacturing engineering, quality, and production teams to create and execute a plan to meet production targets.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with supply chain, finance, leadership teams to analyze cost and production efficiency.
  • Support the creation of manufacturing processes during the Prototype phase by sharing labor time metrics and best practices from mature product lines.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvements to production and business processes, develop business case for investment, and deliver successful implementation.
