About The Position

The Assembly Special Process Engineer demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes within the Manufacturing Engineering Organization. In this role you will utilize your experience and expertise to solve technical problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, mentor and coach global teams, communicate regularly and effectively to leadership, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals. The role focuses on supporting Assembly Rotor Stack and Balance processes for GE Aviation development, production, and overhaul engine assembly facilities around the world through best practice development and leveraging.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics
  • For candidates without a bachelor’s degree: High school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of relevant experience in manufacturing or engineering roles
  • Minimum of 4–5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or a related technical field

Nice To Haves

  • Rotor and assembly expertise
  • Experience and strong understanding of jet engine rotor stack and balance methodologies, with at least 2–3 years of direct involvement in rotor assembly or balance processes
  • Shop floor experience, specifically in jet engine assembly and/or test, strongly desired
  • Strong technical aptitude and familiarity with engineering tools and systems, such as CAD, PLM, manufacturing execution systems (MES), and basic data analysis tools
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, including acting as a subject matter expert, mentoring or coaching others, or leading cross-functional project teams
  • Solid oral and written communication skills, with experience creating technical presentations and communicating to senior leadership

Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
  • Act as a mentor to global engine assembly rotor teams. Be an expert and consulting resource to colleagues and customers
  • Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project
  • Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Create and teach training materials related to engine assembly rotor stack and balance best practices
  • Communicate and present key project milestones regularly to the leadership team
  • Lead teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
  • Work directly with global teams to leverage assembly best practices across sites
  • Be the technical liaison to equipment manufacturers providing technical specifications and assuring on-time machine/equipment delivery
  • Some domestic and international travel required
