About The Position

The Senior Manager, Workday Reporting & Analytics will serve as the firm’s senior technical authority on Workday report development, data architecture, and analytics delivery. This role sits within the HR Data & Analytics team. The Senior Manager will own the full lifecycle of Workday reporting, from requirements gathering through production deployment and ongoing optimization, and will serve as the primary point of contact for HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) across the firm. The ideal candidate combines deep Workday HCM reporting expertise with strong project management instincts and the ability to translate ambiguous business needs into precise, scalable reporting solutions. You will interface directly with senior HR stakeholders as their trusted advisor on what Workday can deliver, manage competing priorities across multiple workstreams, and oversee at least one direct report. The Senior Manager will own the full project lifecycle for reporting initiatives: scoping, stakeholder alignment, build, testing, delivery, and documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in HRIS, HR reporting, or HR data analytics, with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on Workday report development.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Workday reporting tools: Advanced Reports, Matrix Reports, Composite Reports, BIRT Reports, Calculated Fields, and Custom Report Data Sources.
  • Deep understanding of Workday HCM data model, business processes, and the interplay between configuration and reporting outputs.
  • Strong working knowledge of Workday security architecture (domain security, role-based security, user-based security) and its impact on report data visibility and access.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects end-to-end in environments without dedicated project management support.
  • Prior experience managing or formally mentoring at least one direct report.
  • Ability to travel to clients and FTI office(s) as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Workday Pro certification in HCM Reporting or related functional area.
  • Experience with Workday Prism Analytics, Adaptive Planning, or Workday Extend.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI (report creation, DAX, Power Query, data modeling) for supplemental analytics beyond native Workday.
  • Familiarity with Workday integration frameworks (EIBs, Core Connectors, Studio, Orchestrate) as they relate to reporting data flows.
  • Experience supporting Workday implementations or large-scale post-go-live optimization efforts.
  • Experience working in a global, complex, matrixed organization where influence is the primary lever for getting things done.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted advisor relationships with senior HR leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Workday Report Development & Technical Delivery Design, build, and maintain advanced Workday reports (Advanced, Matrix, Composite, BIRT) and calculated fields across HCM, Recruiting, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Talent, and Payroll.
  • Develop and optimize complex calculated fields, custom report data sources, and report-level business logic to meet evolving requirements.
  • Architect reporting solutions that account for Workday security model impacts (including role-based, user-based, and domain security) ensuring reports return accurate, appropriately scoped data for each audience.
  • Build and manage Workday dashboards and discovery boards to deliver self-service analytics to HR leadership and COE partners.
  • Serve as the escalation point for report defects, performance issues, and complex data interpretation questions.
  • Evaluate and implement Workday reporting feature releases and updates with each biannual release cycle.
  • Project & Stakeholder Management Own the full project lifecycle for reporting and analytics initiatives: intake, requirements definition, scoping, prioritization, build, UAT, deployment, and documentation.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between HR COEs (Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, HR Business Partners, People Analytics) and the reporting function.
  • Translate ambiguous or incomplete business requests into clearly defined technical requirements and deliver against agreed timelines.
  • Manage competing priorities across multiple concurrent workstreams, proactively communicating status, risks, and trade-offs to stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain a reporting request intake process, backlog, and delivery cadence.
  • Prepare clear documentation including report specifications, data dictionaries, test plans, and end-user guides.
  • Team Leadership & Development Directly manage and mentor at least one report writer or analyst, providing regular coaching, assigning meaningful development opportunities, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Establish reporting standards, naming conventions, and best practices for the team to ensure consistency and maintainability.
  • Identify skill gaps and recommend training or certification plans for direct reports.
  • Foster a collaborative, transparent team environment that encourages knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Workday Platform & Cross-Functional Partnership Maintain deep working knowledge of Workday business processes, data model, and configuration changes that affect downstream reporting.
  • Partner with the HR Technology team to ensure reporting solutions align with the broader Workday ecosystem.
  • Advise on data quality, governance, and audit readiness as it relates to HR reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage Workday Prism Analytics or third-party tools (e.g., Power BI) for analytics needs that extend beyond native Workday reporting capabilities.
  • Support biannual Workday release regression testing for all production reports.
