About The Position

Scarborough Health Network (SHN) is shaping the future of care across its three hospitals and eight satellite sites, serving one of Canada’s most vibrant and diverse communities. SHN is home to North America’s largest nephrology program and is the designated cardiac care and spine centre for Scarborough and surrounding communities. It is a community-affiliated teaching site for the University of Toronto and partners with other universities and colleges to train healthcare professionals. The Senior Manager, Technical Services will lead teams and systems essential for a complex, multi-site hospital environment operating 24/7. This role involves people leadership, infrastructure reliability, and enterprise delivery, leading highly skilled technical teams, overseeing critical hospital systems and vendor relationships, and translating digital strategy into stable, secure, and scalable operations. The work directly impacts patient care, staff productivity, and organizational resilience.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Security or equivalent
  • 5+ years experience in a healthcare related organization
  • 5+ years experience in IT service management and service delivery
  • 5+ years experience in a leadership role
  • Experience in leading enterprise-wide technology transformation initiatives

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree in Computer Science, Information Security or equivalent
  • Certification in CISP, ITIL Foundation, PMP preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of technical staff across multiple hospital sites, including team leads and specialists
  • Set clear goals, performance expectations, and accountability measures
  • Recruit, retain, and develop high-performing technical talent
  • Coach and mentor leaders and senior specialists to build long-term capability and succession
  • Work closely with the Director, Digital Health and AI and VP/CIO on strategy execution and prioritization
  • Support and operationalize enterprise governance structures such as the Change Advisory Board (CAB) and Architecture Standards Review Board (ASRB)
  • Monitor service performance, workload balance, and team wellbeing in a high-demand environment
  • Oversee the reliability and support of hospital applications and core infrastructure services
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors and support contracts
  • Ensure mission-critical clinical and non-clinical systems remain secure, stable, and supportable
  • Lead planning for current and future infrastructure needs across multiple sites
  • Oversee infrastructure upgrades, patching, and security posture in alignment with cyber policy
  • Guide hardware and software procurement to ensure compliance with organizational standards
  • Manage operating and capital budgets tied to technical services and project delivery
  • Identify delivery risks, constraints, and system dependencies and put mitigation strategies in place
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, regional health partners, and external vendors on delivery plans
  • Ensure all technical initiatives meet SHN architecture, security, and change standards
