About The Position

The Senior Manager of Systems Integration will own the integration of modular solutions to build a scalable OTTAVA robotic surgical business impacting millions of patients and expanding the capabilities of physicians globally. At Johnson & Johnson Robotics and Digital Solutions, we're changing the trajectory of health for humanity, using robotics to enhance healthcare providers’ abilities and improve diagnoses, treatments, and recovery times for patients. J&J Robotics was established in 2020 with the integration of Auris Health, Verb Surgical, C-SATS, and Ethicon. It comprises three key med-tech platforms: Flexible Robotics (MONARCH®), Surgical Robotics (OTTAVA™) and Digital Solutions. This Senior Manager will be a key technical and strategic leader on one of the most exciting programs and J&J and in healthcare in general! The candidate must bring a strong blend of technical ability and people leadership to bear on this critical role. They must also balance depth in robotics with a passionate focus on understanding and meeting the needs of clinicians and operating room staff.

Requirements

  • A minimum of Masters’ degree or equivalent experience in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar Engineering field is required
  • 8+ years of Research & Development industry experience in engineering or related function is required.
  • 6+ years of direct people management experience is required.
  • Previous experience in system integration is required.
  • Previous experience successfully launching electromechanical products is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively recruit, develop, manage and coach engineers (including manager level talent) to strengthen organizational capabilities is required.
  • Demonstrated success in partnering and influencing across a matrix environment is required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and partners is required
  • Ability to travel up to 10%, international and domestic, is required

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstration of successfully bringing complex products from concept to formal testing (e.g. verification & validation) is preferred.
  • Experience with the design of robotic systems in healthcare is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a team of 15+ engineers and managers in the integration of complex robotic hardware and software across all capital subsystems.
  • Establish initiatives to achieve program goals and improve functional excellence in hardware/software integration, test method development, feature integration, and system stabilization. incorporating clinical feedback into design, characterization and test design, interface control, and system bring-up and stabilization
  • Significant focus on developing managers and engineers through development planning, career opportunity facilitation, mentorship, and constructive timely feedback.
  • Drive functional excellence in the Systems Integration team through initiatives and goal alignment.
  • Meet program and technical needs through collaborative work planning and execution.
  • Develop and consistently maintain systems for work planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Proactively identify program needs and build a team that will meet the needs of the program.
