The Senior Manager, Strategic Finance focuses on strategic, high-leverage, often irreversible decisions: business cases for land, factory and equipment, incentives (Provincial / Federal) and transfer pricing methodology. The Senior Manager, Strategic Finance is also the business partner to the business development team, supporting land development, translating pipeline into economics, and tracking realized benefits. This role improves ROI on capital, ensures the right leverage ratio and supports funding requirements – work that fundamentally shapes the direction of the company. The role owns the long-range financial model and works closely with other members of the Finance team in generating relevant insights. The ideal candidate brings experience in high-visibility roles, a strategic continuous improvement mindset, exceptional attention to detail, and a partnership-focused approach.

Requirements

  • University Degree, with a focus in Finance or Accounting.
  • Strong accounting fluency, CPA preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience in corporate finance / strategic finance / investment banking in asset‑heavy or manufacturing contexts.
  • Strong understanding of cash flows, advanced modeling skills (DCF, NPV, WACC, scenario and sensitivity), and familiarity with transfer pricing and intercompany flows.
  • Sound judgment, with the ability to critically analyze situations, problem-solve, and deal with ambiguity.
  • Strong customer focus with excellent relationship building and a collaborative working style.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrates the highest level of ethics, personal integrity, and detail orientation.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing deliverables at a time, with accurate and timely delivery.
  • Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with leveraging AI tools like CoPilot or ChatGPT in a Finance context.
  • Experience in highly automated manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Long-Term Planning & Business Cases: own and further develop the company’s multi-year financial plan and build detailed business cases for strategic initiatives (e.g. lease vs. own decisions, major capital projects, business expansions).
  • Strategic Analysis: evaluate investment opportunities, pricing strategies, and capital structure. In coordination with tax, develop transfer pricing policies.
  • Business Partner to the business development team: act as the finance liaison to the business development team. Support the business through all steps of the project lifecyles, from land development to conclusion. Translate growth plans into financial projections and assess their long-term profitability and resource needs.
  • Funding & Capital Strategy: take ownership of SAMI’s financing plan. As liaison to the treasury function and potential lenders, you will evaluate debt / equity options, analyze term sheets and support government funding programs.
  • Strategic Projects: lead analysis for product mix and pricing decisions, new service and products launches, facility investments, large equipment purchases, and one-off projects. Provide scenario modeling and “what-if” analyses to the VP Finance and executive team to inform irreversible decisions.
  • Deliver executive-ready presentations to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Partner with business groups to understand drivers and assumptions to improve forecasting accuracy as well as identify risks, opportunities and potential actions.
