At United Way of Metropolitan Dallas (UWMD) our movement of community change-agents is growing, and we’re looking for a Senior Manager, Social Media to help build on this momentum. The Senior Manager, Social Media is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive social media strategy to meet or exceed awareness, engagement and fundraising goals. This position requires expert-level experience with social media, specifically Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X/Twitter. The Senior Manager, Social Media will be responsible for positioning United Way as a thought leader within the organization’s focus areas of education, income, health. This role also collaborates on advising the social media strategy for the CEO across their platforms. The Senior Manager, Social Media will report to the Vice-President, Marketing and will work closely with team members across the organization and within the marketing department and Creative Studio. Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of social media management tools (e.g. Sprout Social, Hootsuite)
  • Excellent knowledge of iPhone video editing and tools (e.g. Capcut, Edits)
  • Excellent copywriting and copyediting skills, with high attention to detail
  • Experience with creating compelling messages for different target demographics/platforms
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and use it to drive decision making
  • Active user of social media and aware of trends
  • Ability to prioritize competing priorities and multitask, along with willingness to embrace change and to adapt on the fly
  • Demonstrated excellence working as part of a team, including clear communication in person and by email
  • High degree of comfort and professionalism working with C-suite leadership
  • Willingness to listen to and incorporate feedback from leadership
  • Excellent client service skills
  • Self-motivated, good at taking initiative, and comfortable operating under a degree of ambiguity
  • Experience with Meta Ads Manager and paid Meta advertising best practices.

  • BA/BS in marketing, PR, journalism, communications or equivalent working experience
  • 5+ years experience in social media management for an organization, brand or within an agency

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute social media strategy aligned with UWMD goals with differentiated content across all channels
  • Proactive planning and management of social media editorial and content calendars for each social platform
  • Strategically find and tell stories in United Way brand voice that position the organization as a thought leader in education, income, and health
  • Oversee content creation, curation and publishing, ensuring a consistent, professional brand voice across all platforms
  • Monitor social channels for quick response time, to foster engagement and to manage reputation through proactive community management
  • Monitor, analyze and participate in social conversations across social platforms. Use social listening tool to track brand mentions, sector trends, and emerging issues relevant to United Way's focus areas of education, income and health.
  • Concept, shoot, and edit short-form video for Reels
  • Analyze performance metrics to optimize posts, provide actionable insights and reporting for leadership and regularly adapt to increase engagement
  • Continuously monitor the evolving social media landscape, including platform algorithm changes, new features, and emerging channels, to identify opportunities relevant to UWMD’s brand and audiences. Proactively bring recommendations to the VP, Marketing and serve as the organization's internal expert on social media best practices.
  • Oversee United Way's influencer program in partnership with an external vendor, including reviewing and approving vendor recommendations for influencer selection, ensuring all partnerships align with UWMD's brand standards and mission
  • Provide recommendations for CEO social media strategy to support thought leadership, in collaboration with VP of Marketing and external vendor
  • Serve as an advisor on paid social media strategy to external vendor, offer insights and help analyze reporting in collaboration with VP, Marketing
