Be responsible for the following across an entire assigned business category: Develop and own product architecture roadmaps for platforms to meet business growth requirements for cost, quality, timing, and customer expectations. Develop and own the financial and platform metrics for each global platform that drives sound decision-making for Company to maximize success in markets and with efficient operations. Lead and define product scope for critical subsystems and product architectures to enable more efficient product development. Govern the use of product specifications, subsystem interfaces, and UDF's for use in new product development. Make strategic recommendations for new and existing architectures across the business category with a focus on enabling “useful” market variation required to drive business growth while eliminating “useless” variation. Lead product development and supply chain activities with a focus on platforming actions: analyze, stabilize, standardize, optimize and innovate. Analyze --> Create and use analytical tools to drive insights into component, sub-system and systems utilization across GPG platforms. Stabilize --> Identify quality and supply chain performance gaps, quantify benefits to business, and create projects to resolve. Standardize --> Identify opportunities and set strategies to standardize platforms and eliminating useless variation, creating sets of subsystems and interfaces that form common platforms. Optimize --> develop new opportunities to meet current/near future internal and external requirements including customer requirements, product price, cost, quality, Design for Manufacture (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), etc. Innovate --> create incremental new designs and concepts to meet future internal and external requirements including new features, attributes, cost, quality, and supply chain solutions. Interface with Design to Value (DTV) and Manufacturing Process Development Teams to ensure scope and opportunities are aligned with platform architecture roadmaps. Continuously improve the processes, skills, team, and tools necessary to achieve Company’s product leadership strategy. Identify and develop strategic intellectual property for Company.
