Salary Range: $195,000.00 - $253,000.00 What’s the role? Senior Manager, People Insights & Engineering is a "player-coach" role. You bridge the gap between technical execution and high-level strategy, managing a small team of analysts while remaining hands-on in architecting systems and storytelling. You help operationalize the people data strategy, ensuring it is directly tied to business priorities and that all work has a clear business impact. You encourage a high bar of excellence and efficiency for your team. This is a full-time position reporting to the Director, Program Management, Communications & Workforce Planning. This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn Office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. People Insights & Engineering team is a small, distributed team that delivers high impact data products and insights to empower our leaders to make informed decisions about business strategies. Our areas of expertise span analytical and engineering work, including reporting and storytelling, survey strategy, metrics development, impact measurement, and empirical research. We sit within the broader People Programs, Insights & Workforce Planning vertical which is the ‘glue & the grease’ for the People & Workplace Org – we connect dots between verticals, we help teams move efficiently and optimally, and we strengthen the impact of decisions being made across the Org. Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in people analytics or business insights, with deep strength in people management
  • Expertise in data processing and analysis tooling (SQL, dbt, Github, BigQuery, Jupyter Notebooks, NotebookLM, R, Python, VS code), HR data systems (Workday) and visualization tools (Looker, Tableau)
  • A client-focus perspective – building relationships across the business and seeking continuous feedback to ensure tools and products are meeting business needs
  • Providing ability to influence leadership through data-driven recommendations and visual storytelling
  • Experience working with sensitive and confidential people data and core people team surveys
  • An adaptive approach - ready to quickly change directions-pivot when there are shifts in strategy and an ability to steady your team
  • Passion for experimental design, data visualization, and statistical analysis techniques

Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor high-performing analysts, focusing on setting a clear bar for excellence, investing in their growth and development and ensuring the team delivers quality and trusted insights
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner across the People organization – gaining a deep understanding of business needs and stakeholder needs to inform your team’s roadmap
  • Exercise sound judgment in ambiguous situations, making informed tradeoffs among competing priorities, data limitations, and partners needs with minimal guidance
  • Build and drive a predictive people insights model that incorporate AI and empowers leadership with the data to make proactive and well-informed talent interventions
  • Develop and lead initiatives to drive data literacy and utilization across People organizations
  • Establish and maintain data governance and ethical AI standards, in partnership with Engineering and People Systems, to ensure the responsible use of sensitive people data in compliance with global privacy regulations
  • Recommend and evolve tools and standard methodologies by staying current with business needs, market trends and data practices, ensuring the team’s output and outcomes remain efficient, scalable and align with insights-led guidelines across the industry
