UMPG is seeking a motivated candidate to work as part of the North America Copyright team. The Copyright team is centrally located within the greater North America Administration team, initiating the end-to-end value chain that spans licensing, registrations, royalty collection and distribution. This position will be responsible for successfully delivering varied services to multiple customers, many with concurrent deadlines. The role reports to the Director, NA Copyright and will perform various tasks across numerous projects and processes within the administration team. How You’ll Create Review, interpret, and extract key terms from publishing agreements (such as copyright ownership, administration obligations, special handling provisions, and royalty rates). Assist in reviewing and authorizing copyright and royalty account setups by the greater NA Copyright team. Prioritize team workload, focusing on high priority tasks and escalated account issues. Respond to questions from clients, utilizing information and assistance from team members, or connecting them with other departments as appropriate, anticipating needs and questions to provide comprehensive service Liaise with Business Affairs, Creative Admin, Client Services, Mechanical Licensing and Royalty teams on agreement terms and internal client account setups. Maintain records and documentation for internal compliance related to agreements and songs. Bring a fresh perspective, seeking to deconstruct and rebuild processes to create efficiencies and improvements. Exercise leadership experience while mentoring, coaching, and providing support to the team, seeking to maintain and elevate a world class publishing administration operation. Contribute to the building of new system tools and the implementation of new technologies within UMPG’s Administration Team, partnering with teams cross-divisionally and around the world. Execute ad hoc projects and delegated tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in music publishing, copyright administration or rights management
  • Strong understanding of music economics, copyright chain of title, and various types of publishing agreements
  • Knowledge of society mandates and CWR registrations
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence with data management
  • Able to learn multiple, customized systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills that can be adapted to a wide variety of audiences
  • Responds appropriately to direction regarding deadlines, deliverables, key performance indicators and service levels
