About The Position

The Senior Manager, Inventory & Logistics, leads inventory strategy, warehousing, and logistics execution across a complex, project-driven manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring material availability & accuracy, inventory integrity, logistics performance, and working capital optimization across all verticals & locations. The Senior Manager will operate as a strategic leader and hands-on operator, partnering closely with Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Strategic Sourcing, Project Management, and Business Systems to support high-velocity retail launches, client-specific programs, and business process re-engineering of our inventory management systems. This role is based in Union City, CA facility and is critical to scaling operational discipline while maintaining speed, flexibility, and best practice inventory record accuracy practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Logistics, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in inventory management and logistics within a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated success leading inventory and logistics functions in a project-based or configure-to-order business
  • Strong working knowledge of domestic and international logistics, freight management, and warehouse operations
  • Proven experience using ERP systems to drive inventory accuracy and operational control
  • Strong people leadership and cross-functional influence skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in retail POP displays, consumer electronics, or digital/networked hardware environments
  • Familiarity with D365 Supply Chain Management
  • Experience supporting large-scale retail launches, rollouts, or installations
  • APICS CSCP, CPIM, or equivalent certification
  • Prior experience leading teams in a unionized environment

Responsibilities

  • Inventory Strategy & Governance
  • Own the UNC inventory strategy across raw materials, WIP, finished goods, project-specific inventory, and spare parts
  • Define and govern inventory policies including safety stock, min/max levels, lead-time assumptions, and service-level targets aligned to business planning requirements
  • Drive inventory accuracy through disciplined cycle counting, physical inventories, and systemic root-cause analysis
  • Actively manage excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory exposure, including mitigation plans, recovery actions, and executive reporting
  • Ensure appropriate controls for customer-owned, program-specific, and temporary display inventory
  • Logistics & Distribution Leadership
  • Lead all inbound and outbound logistics operations, including domestic and international freight (ocean, air, LTL, FTL, parcel) for UNC.
  • Partner with Global Logistics for the seamless coordination of inbound freight
  • Own carrier strategy, freight procurement, rate negotiation, and performance management
  • Ensure on-time, in-full delivery to manufacturing facilities, client distribution centers, installers, and retail locations nationwide
  • Oversee customs, trade compliance, and documentation for international shipments where applicable, partnering with global vendors, Strategic Sourcing & Global Logistics for execution
  • Lead logistics execution for time-critical retail launches, remodels, and multi-site rollouts
  • Warehouse & Materials Flow Operations
  • Provide senior leadership over warehouse operations including receiving, put-away, picking, kitting, staging, and shipping
  • Optimize warehouse layout, slotting, and material flows to support both manufacturing throughput and project staging
  • Establish and enforce SOPs for material handling, storage, safety, and quality
  • Ensure uninterrupted material flow to production lines and assembly operations
  • Systems Analytics & Continuous Improvement
  • Serve as a functional owner for inventory and logistics processes within ERP and WMS platforms (e.g., D365 or equivalent)
  • Develop and maintain KPI dashboards covering inventory turns, accuracy, OTIF delivery, freight cost, and service levels
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on lead-time reduction, cost optimization, inventory turns and working capital improvement
  • Partner with IT and Operations on ERP enhancements, automation, and data governance initiatives
  • Cross Functional & Executive Collaboration
  • Partner with Planning to align inventory and logistics execution to demand forecasts, capacity plans, and customer launch schedules
  • Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing to improve supplier delivery performance and inbound logistics efficiency, via ASN’s etc.
  • Support Project Management and Manufacturing with precise staging, sequencing, and delivery of displays and digital hardware
  • Act as the senior escalation point for inventory or logistics risks impacting customer commitments
  • Present performance, risks, and improvement plans to senior leadership
  • People Leadership
  • Lead, develop, and scale inventory, warehouse, and logistics teams across all UNC facilities
  • Set performance expectations, coach managers and supervisors, and build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Ensure compliance with safety, labor, and regulatory requirements
