About The Position

Oversees, leads and directs the day-to-day responsibilities of assigned engineers and performs various project management and quality assurance activities. Provides technical advice, services, and troubleshooting support on project flow and process movement to staff. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in Mechanical, Aeronautical Engineering or related technical field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in 14 CFR Parts 121 Engineering and/or Technical Service departments.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Requires a thorough understanding and working knowledge of all appropriate maintenance and airworthiness requirements of 14 CFR. (i.e., Parts 1, 21, 23, 25, 43, 45, 47, 65, 91, and 121) and manuals required by 14 CFR Parts 121 and 133.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant license.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Able to move about the work environment.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear.
  • Able to travel up to 25% of the time, including overnight stays.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Receives, reviews, assigns, and tracks requests for engineering assistance in area of responsibility.
  • Works with Engineers to minimize impact on aircraft return to revenue service.
  • Leads and directs Engineering projects to ensure timely compliance with Airworthiness Directives and other aircraft and component modifications.
  • Reviews Engineering documentation for clarity, quality, and proper approval basis.
  • Minimizes costs and aircraft out-of-service time relative to area of responsibility.
  • Manages Engineers in the development of specifications, basic design data, and performance of all Engineering duties necessary to repair, modify and maintain the aircraft and systems.
  • Ensures specifications exist for configuration control and standardization.
  • Ensures that all Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRMs) and other rulemaking opportunities are reviewed and that well thought out responses are developed and submitted to affect rulemaking decisions appropriately.
  • Interact with applicable departments to define, maintain, and optimize the Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program (CAMP).
  • Interfaces with Maintenance & Engineering Management, outside repair agencies, and support organizations relative to area of responsibilities.
  • Leads and directs engineers in major project coordination, critical design review, and modification planning.
  • Develops and manages a departmental budget.
  • Fosters the Company’s core values and culture throughout the work environment.
  • Screens, interviews and makes recommendations for hiring potential associates.
  • Coaches and provides leadership, direction, motivation and supervision of direct reports.
  • Appraises performance, provides performance feedback, takes corrective actions and oversees training and development of staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
