The Senior Manager, Engineering leads a high performing engineering organization responsible for delivering secure, scalable, reliable technology solutions that enable clinical operations, provider workflows, care management, member services, and enterprise platforms. This role combines technical leadership, people management, and cross functional program oversight to ensure engineering execution aligns with organizational strategy within a regulated healthcare environment. The Senior Manager serves as a strategic partner across product, operations, security, compliance, and clinical/business stakeholders to modernize systems, integrate platforms, and ensure delivery of technology that improves patient outcomes and provider experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 10 years of engineering experience with increasing responsibility.
  • 4+ years of experience leading engineering or technical teams.
  • Experience in healthcare technology (payer, provider, managed care, RCM, EHR workflows, interoperability, or digital health).
  • Strong technical understanding of cloud platforms, API integration patterns, data pipelines, microservices, and secure coding practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership managing technical teams and delivering enterprise-scale systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams including software engineers, cloud/integration engineers, SRE, QA, and technical leads.
  • Create an inclusive, highperformance culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
  • Provide career development, coaching, and succession planning for team members.
  • Set team goals, performance expectations, and operating rhythms.
  • Oversee endtoend engineering delivery for enterprise applications (EHR integrations, care management tools, analytics platforms, claims/EDI systems, digital front door, etc.).
  • Drive software development lifecycle best practices (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and quality engineering standards.
  • Ensure solutions meet scalability, resiliency, security, and compliance requirements (HIPAA, HITRUST, CMS, state regulations).
  • Collaborate with product teams to translate business strategy into technical roadmaps and execution plans.
  • Guide architecture decisions related to cloud (Azure/AWS), integration (FHIR, HL7, EDI), APIs, data platforms, and enterprise systems.
  • Review and approve key technical designs, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture patterns and longterm scalability.
  • Partner with cybersecurity on secure design reviews, vulnerability management, and incident response readiness.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact with Product Management.
  • Lead crossfunctional initiatives such as EHR integration programs, claims modernization, provider onboarding automation, data interoperability, and digital health enablement.
  • Ensure consistent communication of priorities, risks, dependencies, and progress to executive leadership.
  • Manage operating budgets, vendor relationships, and resource planning (onshore/offshore).
  • Implement KPIs/OKRs across velocity, quality, system uptime, SLAs, cost, and business value delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement in processes, engineering toolchains, infrastructure observability, and incident reduction
