Senior Manager, Data Analysis, Card Finance Innovation Team At Capital One, data is at the center of everything we do. We are seeking a Senior Data Analysis Manager to lead our Card Finance Innovation team. This position will manage the team responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the tools and processes that are used by the broader Card Finance team and enterprise for the outlook, financial analysis, and other strategic investment decisions for the business. Other responsibilities include supporting ad hoc projects across a number of stakeholders including FP&A, FPDS, the Model Risk Office, and BSM. In this role, you’ll be expected to demonstrate proficiency in a few key areas: Business Focused You’ll own and prioritize the short-term (3-6 months) and long-term (12-24+ months) product roadmap to deliver on the most crucial Card business outcomes, working closely with a cross-functional team of FAs and DAs to ensure robust, efficient project delivery You’ll lead sourcing and prioritization efforts to understand the needs of our Segment CFOs to drive the long term vision for our Innovation agenda Technology Driven You’ll have an end-to-end understanding of the most crucial Finance processes, how they fit into the larger corporate ecosystem, and anticipate how our needs may change in our dynamic business environment You’ll work closely with technical experts and leaders across the enterprise to understand how our enterprise technical architecture enables the most robust customer-oriented outcomes for the Card business & Finance Transformational Leadership You’ll rally your teams and senior stakeholders to your product vision and proactively leverage relationships throughout the ecosystem to align to your vision and influence prioritization across partner teams You’ll be responsible for attracting and retaining top talent from FAs to DAs to your team and mentoring and developing associates in order to achieve their career goals On a given day you will be: Leading the evolution of Card’s financial forecasting tools Assessing the quality and risk of analytical tool methodologies across Capital One, and the nature of tools usage within those processes Understanding technical issues in analytical tools and assessing tools risks and opportunities Independently researching, identifying, and prototyping industry best practices for emerging analytical tools Communicating results clearly and concisely both verbally and through written communications via validation reports and presentations Leveraging education, colleagues and training opportunities to develop solutions to business problems Coaching and mentoring junior staff An ideal candidate will possess strong problem solving and conceptual thinking abilities in addition to communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. This position will be in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment where you will be handling multiple concurrent projects while working independently and in teams.

Requirements

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related quantitative field) plus at least 7 years of experience performing data analytics, or currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Master’s Degree plus at least 5 years of experience performing data analytics with an expectation that required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date.
  • At least 5 years of experience performing professional data analysis work
  • At least 5 years of experience leading and developing with open source data technologies
  • At least 2 years of experience managing people

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree or PhD in a Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field
  • At least 7 years of experience in statistical or econometrics hands-on work
  • At least 5 years of experience manipulating and performing analysis with large data sets
  • At least 5 years of experience in financial services industry
  • At least 5 years of experience in developing statistical or econometric models
  • At least 5 years of experience in validating statistical or econometric models
  • At least 2 years of experience with data governance
  • At least 2 years of experience with predictive analytics
