About The Position

BIO is the premier biotechnology advocacy organization representing biotech companies, industry leaders, and state biotech associations in the United States and more than 35 countries around the globe. BIO members range from biotech start-ups to some of the world’s largest biopharmaceutical companies – all united by the same goal: to develop medical and scientific breakthroughs that prevent and fight disease, restore health, and improve patients’ lives. BIO also organizes the BIO International Convention and a series of annual conferences that drive partnerships, investment, and progress within the sector.  The primary purpose of the Director of PAC and Political Operations is to provide strategic operational leadership for the Federal Government Relations department, with a focus on managing BIOPAC operations, and advancing BIO’s political engagement. This role will oversee the day-to-day function of PAC operations while ensuring regulatory compliance. The role is also responsible for executing executive fly-ins with the BIO Board Advocacy Work Group to advance BIO’s policy agenda and support the coordination of in-district site visits. This role requires a highly organized, politically savvy, and creative professional who is eager to join a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in PAC management, political fundraising, Capitol Hill, or government relations.
  • Understanding of ffederal election law and FEC reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated fundraising success and donor relationship management experience.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience managing high-level events and executive scheduling.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to develop new engagement concepts.

Nice To Haves

  • Event management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an annual BIOPAC fundraising plan to meet or exceed revenue goals including innovative donor engagement strategies.
  • Oversee BIOPAC budget, track fundraising metrics and provide regular performance reporting to FGR Department.
  • Manage candidate contribution recommendations and approval processes.
  • Maintain accurate financial records, ensure compliance with federal election laws and oversee reporting requirements in coordination with legal counsel.
  • Plan and executeBIOPAC andotherpolitical events withFGRDepartmentandthe BIOBoard Advocacy Work Groupincludinglogisticsmanagement (venueselection, arranging catering, audio/video set-up, and on-site coordination).
  • Oversee the Advocacy Work Group events in conjunction with Executive Vice President which requires managing competing schedules for senior biotech executives and executive leadership.
  • Collaborate with BIO staff to engage other Board Task Forces, and external stakeholders as assigned.
