About The Position

The Senior Manager, Accounting, is responsible for supporting the Senior Director, Accounting, in maintaining the financial accounts of Church’s and ensuring that the appropriate processes and internal controls are in compliance to enable delivery of timely and accurate financial reports. The Senior Manager is also accountable for managing day-to-day accounting functions including outsourced accounting functions.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of detailed accounting experience (focus on operational vs. reporting).
  • 2+ years in a Senior Manager, Accounting, role.
  • Possesses a well-rounded personal skill set (collaborative, communicates effectively, negotiates win-wins, collaborator, teachable and willing to learn and grow, flexible and possesses executive presence).
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, leaders, and colleagues (including offshore teams).
  • Previous experience with Lawson (ERP) and other cloud-based ERPs for mid-sized companies.
  • Ability to assist the Senior Director with interpreting and documenting our position on GAAP and other technical pronouncements.
  • Previous experience in QSR or retail industries.
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent education.
  • Must be flexible, innovative, self-motivated and a team player with an attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with ASC 842 lease accounting using Lease Query or similar lease accounting tool (preferred).
  • CPA certification desired.
  • Prior “Big 4” experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day restaurant accounting functions to include, but not limited to, accounts receivable, accounts payable, restaurant transaction accounting, periodic reconciliation, and lease accounting (ASC 842).
  • Provide financial reporting that is accurate, timely and relevant to the business’ needs.
  • Ensure that financial records presented in accordance with U.S. GAAP principles.
  • Assist in the period closing process to ensure accounts are closed monthly in a timely fashion to meet reporting requirements.
  • Help with preparing various ad-hoc reporting as needed.
  • Assist with technical accounting analysis and authoring white papers on complex accounting transactions.
  • Provide adequate internal control to safeguard the business assets.
  • Ensure compliance with internal control systems, policies and procedures and GAAP.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of internal control systems and controls.
  • Assist in the annual external audit of the business.
  • Provide support and assist with certain special projects.
  • Manage outsourced functions surrounding accounting such as lease accounting using Lease Query.
  • Excellent Customer service skills serving internal and external clients.
