About The Position

The Senior Manager, Accounting is responsible for managing a team of accountants and the financial systems administrator. This position is also responsible for implementing and maintaining a system of internal controls to ensure company assets are adequately safeguarded and transactions recorded in compliance with both internal financial policies and US GAAP. The position works closely with the FP&A team, the Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting team, the Revenue Accounting team, and various other business unit leaders.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in roles of increasing responsibility within the accounting & finance function
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or business-related field
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting
  • Comfortable operating in a highly dynamic, fast paced and high growth environment with a demonstrated ability to add value to the business
  • Excellent communication, writing, managerial organizational and people skills
  • Proven initiator, innovator and influencer who can drive change, improve processes, and provide sound solutions to complex and routine business issues
  • Collaborative and accessible manager with a successful track record of developing, mentoring and motivating top performing teams
  • Familiarity with sophisticated ERP systems (NetSuite) including consolidation and reporting tools

Responsibilities

  • Leads the corporate accounting team which consists of managers, senior accountants and staff accountants, supporting continued development of team members
  • Manages the Financial Systems Administrator and ensures key financial systems, including the general ledger system, meet accounting requirements; contributes to the design and validation of financial system changes to maintain proper controls and compliance with various requirements
  • Oversees the general (corporate) accounting function, which includes the accurate and timely monthly close cycle; communicates effectively with FP&A and Accounting/Finance leadership to anticipate, record and analyze financial results
  • Plans and directs various projects for the accounting team in furtherance of Company strategy and continuous improvement
  • Ensures policies, procedures and internal controls are in place to provide reasonable assurance that company assets are protected, and accounting is recorded in accordance with company policies and US GAAP
  • Manages the balance sheet including establishing account reconciliation procedures, reviewing monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and other documents to ensure compliance
  • Coordinates with the Controller and Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting team to plan and oversee work relating to external audits and other periodic reviews of the company financial records
  • Develops and drives necessary financial policies, procedures, and internal controls and plays a leading role in directing change initiatives and process improvements
  • Researches and analyzes technical accounting matters and recommendation of actions in collaboration with the Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting team
  • Drives process change to affect efficiencies in overall accounting and business processes
  • Collaborates with leaders of various business areas to understand operations and ensure processing meets accounting requirements; represents accounting requirements in cross-functional conversations
