The Accounting Operations Senior Manager oversees procurement, accounts payable, payroll, and general operational accounting workflows. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, efficient, and SOX‑compliant accounting operations across the organization. The ideal candidate brings deep operational expertise, strong leadership skills, and experience supporting a high‑growth life sciences environment. This remote position is based in Colorado, with regular bi-monthly, in person meetings with the Finance team in the Boulder region.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing multiple operational functions.
  • Deep understanding of procurement, accounts payable, payroll processes, and accounting operations.
  • Proficiency with ERP and accounting automation systems, ideally NetSuite, TriNet, FloQast and Tipalti.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment with competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross‑functionally.
  • High integrity and commitment to ethical and compliant business practices.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and implementing scalable operational solutions
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting operations including procurement, AP, and payroll.
  • Experience working in a public company environment with familiarity in SOX compliance.
  • Strong expertise with ERP systems such as NetSuite and other tools such as TriNet, FloQast and Tipalti.
  • Demonstrated success in managing teams and improving operational workflows.

  • Experience in the life sciences sector strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee procurement, accounts payable, payroll, and operational accounting functions with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Manage end‑to-end procure‑to-pay processes ensuring alignment with policies, internal controls, and SOX requirements.
  • Lead and develop team members across procurement, AP, and payroll, fostering continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Optimize financial systems and tools, including NetSuite, TriNet, FloQast and Tipalti, to enhance automation, workflow efficiency, and reporting.
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, HR, and other stakeholders to ensure cross‑functional alignment and smooth operational processes.
  • Review and approve vendor contracts, purchase requests, payment batches, and payroll outputs.
  • Support month‑end and quarter‑end close through accrual review, reconciliations, and operational reporting.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors, serving as the subject‑matter expert for procurement, AP, and payroll processes.
  • Identify and implement improvements to strengthen internal controls, reduce risk, and scale operations for organizational growth.
