Senior Mechanic Position What this job involves: The Senior Mechanic will lead the maintenance team in ensuring optimal building operations across all mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems. This role combines hands-on technical work with supervisory responsibilities, focusing on preventive maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and staff development. You'll coordinate with contractors, manage inventory, and maintain critical building systems to achieve 100% uptime while ensuring safety compliance. What your day-to-day looks like: Your daily responsibilities include supervising maintenance service requests, performing complex equipment diagnostics, and directing preventive maintenance schedules. You'll train junior mechanics on proper procedures and safety protocols, monitor building systems through regular rounds and readings, and coordinate with contractors on warranty work and installations. Additionally, you'll maintain engineering logs, manage parts inventory, and ensure emergency response procedures are current.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in building maintenance and mechanical systems
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life safety systems
  • Proven supervisory and training experience with maintenance staff
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment malfunctions and implement corrective actions
  • Understanding of preventive maintenance programs and scheduling
  • Knowledge of hazardous material handling and safety procedures
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certification or degree in facilities management, mechanical engineering, or related field
  • Experience with building automation systems and controls
  • OSHA safety training certification
  • Previous experience in commercial real estate or corporate facilities
  • Familiarity with JLL engineering guidelines and procedures
  • Experience managing contractor relationships and warranty obligations
