About The Position

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) works in partnership with local communities to support people with developmental disabilities in living, learning, and working in their communities. APD provides critical services and support for customers with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential. The Agency serves people with spina bifida, autism, Down syndrome, children ages 3-5 at high risk of developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, Prader-Willi syndrome, Phelan-McDermid syndrome, and intellectual disabilities. Requirements

  • A valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • If hired with an out-of-state license a valid Florida State driver’s license must be obtained within 30 days.
  • Corrective Lenses Restricted license are acceptable provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating a state vehicle.
  • Must be willing to perform essential services before, during, and after an emergency.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs with or without accommodations.
  • Must have three (3) years of carpentry and/or paint experience.
  • Must be able to work in tight spaces and/or on the rooftop.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, bend, climb, for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to exert up to 30 pounds of force frequently.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for transporting needed materials to assigned work areas.
  • Design and construct cabinets, countertops, furniture, along with furniture repair and building maintenance.
  • Ensure materials are ready and available for each job such as skill saws, drill table saws, bandsaws, and other carpentry tools.
  • Perform all types of carpentry, such as framing, roofing, cabinetry repairs, finish work, trim work, and masonry.
  • Responsible for gathering materials needed for each named job such as skill saws, drills, and other carpentry tools.
  • Responsible for the repair and/or hanging of doors.
  • Responsible for the proper use of hand tools, including but not limited to electric saws, skill saws, and trim knives.
  • Maintain woodworking equipment used in the cabinet/carpentry shops such as changing belts, oil machinery, saw blades and carpentry tools.
  • Train maintenance mechanics in various woodworking skills.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
