About The Position

The Senior Lease Analyst is responsible for administering, interpreting, and maintaining complex oil and gas leases, contracts, and land agreements. This role ensures compliance with lease terms, regulatory requirements, payment obligations, and operational activities across the company’s asset base. As a senior member of the Land Administration team, this position provides guidance to junior analysts, collaborates extensively with Land, Accounting, Legal, and Operations, and supports strategic business decisions with accurate land data and analysis. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Energy Management, Land Administration, Business, or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Lease Analyst in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, self motivated, and ability to prioritize competing priorities.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and learn and take on new responsibilities frequently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various groups across the company.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain agreements, company acreage and other asset level data across all land systems.
  • Review and analyze title opinions, leases, assignments, surface agreements and related documents to accurately reflect ownership.
  • Assist with document management and identify areas for improvement.
  • Generate regularly scheduled reports to maintain expirations, payments, regulatory compliance and other land obligations.
  • Interface regularly with Land team as key land support function, ensuring communication is timely and proactive
  • Independently maintain exceptional records on terms and conditions of leases, contracts, conveyances and other documents.
  • With minimal supervision, evaluate and report on critical unit, tract, and lease information including but not limited to: working interests, obligations, extensions, renewals, shut ins, and other burdens based on analysis of deeds, assignments, purchase & sale agreements, probate documents, leases, well plats, pooling agreements, and other documents
  • Monitor well production and initiate meetings with Operations and the Land department to proactively avoid loss of acreage
  • Manage lease extensions, fulfilling obligation payments such as minimum royalties and shut in payments, and to ensure all other required payments are made in a timely manner
  • Ensure data integrity within various systems and applications using strategic reviews, critical analysis and facilitation of quality control reports and processes.
  • Provide land expertise to support large data requests during acquisition and divestitures.
  • Engage with third party software vendors and the Company’s digital team to stay current with software updates and processes.
  • Identify innovative tools and processes to increase efficiency and accuracy, including participating in, or facilitating the design, development, and implementation of, such tools and business process improvements
