About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity for a Group Leader with laboratory automation/robotics and supervisory experience to join a growing team of scientists at a PSS Client site. The purpose of this role is to supervise 4-6 scientists in addition to supporting automated, high-throughput sample analysis in a fast-paced GXP environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as life sciences, engineering, automation, robotics, or other directly-related field or degree with comparable coursework in the above area
  • A minimum of 4-6 years of relatable industry experience
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction sponsorship.
  • May work with potentially infectious samples of human and/or animal origin
  • May handle hazardous chemicals
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

  • Experience with laboratory liquid handler(s) (e.g. Beckman/Hamilton)
  • Experience with ligand-binding and/or PCR-based assays.
  • Experience in System Development Life Cycle and instrument validation are highly preferred.
  • Experience with laboratory instruments and robotics, specifically, programming, calibration, verification and cleaning of instruments and daily set up of reagents on instruments are highly preferred.
  • Experience in a GLP or GMP laboratory, preferably in a bioanalytical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise others in performing client’s service requirements, monitor the performance of the team of employees and proactively plan and multitask to maximize productivity and ensure smooth operation of department. Ensure coverage and performance for all shifts and work duties.
  • Coach, train, and develop others within the group with respect to their personal development and effective implementation of operational improvements.
  • May participate in new hire interviews and support the on-boarding process of new employees.
  • Coordinate workflow and perform daily monitoring to meet TAT
  • Conduct semiannual performance reviews, interview applicants, keep training records up to date for assigned employees, perform succession planning in preparation for growth, and confront and address problems, concerns, and performance issues.
  • Meet all safety, quality and productivity metrics and demonstrate and promote strong teamwork, positive morale and collaboration and adhere to highest quality and efficiency standards in laboratory operations.
  • Assist with computer system and instrument validation process for diverse laboratory equipment such as automated liquid handlers, and Luminex and PCR systems.
  • Develop a working knowledge of laboratory equipment, such as liquid handlers, plate washers/dispensers, and Luminex and PCR instruments.
  • Utilize technical knowledge to ensure efficient operation of various automated processing and informational technology systems.
  • Perform routine cleaning, calibrations and verifications of a range of analytical instruments and liquid handling platforms including daily startup and shutdown of instruments.
  • Troubleshoot errors with quick resolution.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, with integrity, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
  • Use and maintain electronic laboratory notebooks to document and report experimental findings, assay protocols, etc. Use laboratory applications to perform bioanalytical tasks to track samples and/or reagents and equipment related information, document experimentation and conduct analysis (e.g., LIMS, reagent inventory tools, data transfer, ELN, etc.)
  • Deliver customer satisfaction by listening to and exceeding customer expectations.
