About The Position

The Senior IT Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization’s core IT infrastructure to ensure high availability, security, and performance across all systems. This role emphasizes Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, and Intune technologies and requires foundational networking knowledge to support troubleshooting and hybrid connectivity. The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly collaborative, and serves as a senior-level technical escalation point without direct ownership of enterprise network architecture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 5–7+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure management, or senior-level IT support roles.
  • Strong expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory / Entra ID, virtualization technologies (VMware and/or Hyper-V), and networking fundamentals.
  • Solid understanding of Linux fundamentals and command-line usage
  • Experience working with Linux systems in virtualized and/or cloud environments
  • Experience managing Linux servers in a production environment
  • Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure (AWS or equivalent acceptable).
  • Ability to perform routine administrative tasks such as:
  • - Service management
  • - Package updates and patching
  • - Log analysis and basic performance troubleshooting
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with PowerShell or other automation/scripting languages preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain Azure infrastructure, including virtual machines, storage, identity, and platform services.
  • Administer and support Microsoft 365 services, including Entra ID (Azure AD), Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive.
  • Manage Microsoft Intune for device provisioning, compliance policies, configuration profiles, and application deployment.
  • Implement identity and security best practices such as MFA, Conditional Access, and role-based access control.
  • Troubleshoot system and connectivity issues across cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Participate in infrastructure projects, cloud migrations, and continuous service improvements.
  • Monitor system health and performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
  • Provide Tier 3 / advanced support for complex technical issues impacting servers, applications, and related services.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and implement long-term solutions to improve infrastructure reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Monitor systems and implement proactive enhancements to improve performance and stability.
  • Lead IT infrastructure projects from design through implementation and operational handoff, ensuring timelines and objectives are met.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and technology growth.
  • Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing to junior IT staff.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, standard operating procedures, and architectural diagrams.
  • Identify opportunities to automate processes, streamline workflows, and enhance system efficiency.
