POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Insurance Accountant is responsible for is responsible for supporting the accounting and financial operations of the company’s internal insurance pools and captive entity. This role ensures accurate recordkeeping, prepares monthly journal entries and bank reconciliations, and compiles timely reporting for both internal and external stakeholders. The position plays a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, supporting reporting requirements, and ensuring consistency across multiple insurance programs.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in accounting or higher and 2-5 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Experience with accounting software required; Yardi experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to organize financial data to assist in analysis and decision-making.
  • Ability to compile information and calculate basic mathematical results accurately such as totals, percentages, differences, etc.

  • Insurance accounting experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintains accurate records of financial transactions, including premiums, claims, and investments across multiple entities.
  • Reviews and approve invoices for disbursement across various entities and accounts.
  • Manages deductible reimbursements across multiple insurance policy types.
  • Prepares month-end financial reports and supporting documentation for the external captive management team.
  • Compiles and deliver quarterly reporting on claim disbursements and cash balances across multiple pools.
  • Calculates and analyzes the economic performance of insurance programs over time.
  • Supports the annual insurance renewal process, including data gathering and coordination.
  • Assists in developing and implementing standard policies and procedures for new business lines.
  • Completes ad hoc financial reporting, analysis, and special projects as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
