About The Position

Faegre Drinker has an opportunity for a Senior Information Security Engineer – Azure Cloud to work with our Technology, Information Security & Information Governance team in our Chicago, Denver, Florham Park, downtown Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Princeton, Washington, D.C. or Wilmington offices. You will be part of a dynamic team responsible for ensuring that the firm’s Azure environment is securely configured according to best practices. This position will work with other talented individuals who share a passion for doing great work in the best interest of our clients.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in IT or information security, with proven work in an Azure management role.
  • Deep and broad knowledge of IT architectures, with expertise in Azure and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and maintaining Azure best practice configurations.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Event Hub, Microsoft Sentinel, Graph API, and Microsoft Defender for Cloud.
  • Experience managing and configuring Microsoft Intune.
  • Strong experience with network security, networking technologies, and system, security, and network monitoring tools.
  • Thorough understanding of current security principles, techniques, and protocols.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information security issues, risks, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical peers and management.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant education, professional certifications, and/or experience are preferred, including Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator (AZ-104), Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect (AZ-303 and AZ-304), CISSP, or other relevant security certifications highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts hands-on vulnerability and configuration assessments to ensure servers, cloud infrastructure, Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft 365 environments are securely configured and aligned with best practices.
  • Monitors Microsoft portals for compliance, security alerts, incidents, and adherence to organizational and industry standards, taking direct action when issues arise.
  • Implements and manages Identity and Access Management (IAM) strategies, including Entra ID, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), and Conditional Access policies.
  • Configures and maintains network security controls, including Network Security Groups (NSGs), Azure Firewall, ExpressRoute, and Azure Proxy, to reduce risk exposure.
  • Identifies and remediates gaps, misconfigurations, and potential security risks across Azure services and subscriptions.
  • Performs baseline security monitoring and ensures adherence to CIS and MS best practices configuration standards, including enforcing policies and resolving related issues.
  • Configures and maintains logging and monitoring within the Microsoft architecture, integrating directly with the external Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) environment.
  • Provides consistent and proactive updates to the Director on project status, risks, dependencies, and potential impacts, while actively assessing downstream implications and taking action to mitigate risks.
  • Participates hands-on in security event response as a member of the Security Incident Response Team, including investigation, containment, and remediation activities.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned
