About The Position

Azure Systems Engineer The ideal candidate is a strong, hands-on Azure expert who thrives in a small, highly collaborative environment. This is a critical role for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats, shaping cloud strategy, and serving as the go-to Azure authority for architecture, optimization, and best practices. You’ll own and evolve our Azure environment, guide cloud modernization efforts, and mentor fellow system administrators as we continue reducing our on‑prem footprint and moving toward Microsoft cloud-native services.

Requirements

  • Multiple years of hands-on Azure administration and architecture experience
  • Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent)
  • Strong expertise in the systems side of Azure, including compute, storage, identity, and security
  • Experience with Azure identity management (Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD)
  • Solid understanding of Azure networking concepts and best practices
  • Experience supporting Windows Server environments
  • Familiarity with Intune, Active Directory (on‑prem and Azure), Exchange Online, and SharePoint
  • Experience managing virtualization platforms (Hyper‑V, VMware, Citrix)
  • Knowledge of network standards and protocols

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage Azure environments and tenants, ensuring security, reliability, and performance
  • Design, architect, and optimize Azure infrastructure, including VM right-sizing and cost optimization
  • Lead the transition from IaaS to Microsoft “as-a-Service” solutions, such as Azure SQL and other PaaS offerings
  • Architect and manage Azure networking, including Network Security Groups (NSGs), routing, and security controls
  • Serve as a technical coach and peer reviewer for other system administrators, with a strong focus on Azure identity and access management
  • Manage and improve Azure Backup and disaster recovery strategies
  • Assist with local Hyper‑V environments supporting legacy production systems, while actively reducing on‑prem footprint
  • Partner with IT leadership to align Azure architecture with long-term business and modernization goals
