About The Position

The Senior Implementation Manager provides technical, governance, and oversight support to Mechanical Enterprise Risk Projects, enabling Project Managers to deliver projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and with high quality. This role serves as a subject matter expert, applying extensive field experience and industry best practices to improve execution strategies, mitigate risk, and enhance project performance. Working directly with Construction & Project Management leadership and Project Managers, this position challenges execution plans, validates project readiness, and identifies opportunities to reduce schedule impacts, lower costs, and prevent critical risks—particularly during refueling outages where execution efficiency directly impacts operational and financial outcomes.

Requirements

  • Candidates must meet one of the following requirements
  • Advanced (graduate) degree in a related field or business AND 10 years of mechanical experience in a nuclear, steam-cycle, or regulated industrial environment.
  • Bachelors degree in a related field or business AND 12 years of mechanical experience in a nuclear, steam-cycle, or regulated industrial environment.
  • Associates degree AND 14 years of mechanical experience in a nuclear, steam-cycle, or regulated industrial environment.
  • High School Diploma/GED AND 16 years of mechanical experience in a nuclear, steam-cycle, or regulated industrial environment.
  • Additionally:
  • Minimum of 10 years of nuclear mechanical experience required.
  • Strong understanding of nuclear production and operational processes.
  • Experience with multiple refueling outages.
  • Proficiency with Enterprise Management Software (Asset Suite, SAP, etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge of logic-driven schedules (Primavera and/or Microsoft Project).
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and regulatory requirements.
  • Expertise in human performance improvement and error reduction methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Advanced computer proficiency.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required

Nice To Haves

  • Proven experience in construction management.
  • Experience supporting multiple refueling outages at a commercial nuclear power plant.
  • Experience with production and operational processes in a nuclear environment.
  • Experience with feedwater heaters and internal components.
  • Experience with steam systems and ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code equipment.
  • Mechanical, construction, or project-related certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review and improve key project documentation including schedules, work orders, implementation plans, risk registers, testing plans, budgets, and resource strategies to enhance quality, efficiency, and schedule performance.
  • Validate Work Order Tasks (WOTs) prior to field execution, correcting deficiencies, error traps, or unclear instructions in alignment with Columbia work management processes.
  • Provide technical input on acceptance/testing plans, mock-ups, operating experience integration, and implementation methods.
  • Serve as technical authority and advisor on mechanical systems, codes, standards, and field execution strategies.
  • Support ASME Section XI Repair & Replacement activities as needed, including serving as ASME PIC.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, innovative technologies, and best practices applicable to Enterprise Risk Projects.
  • Provide candid feedback to Project Managers and leadership on execution strategies, readiness, and performance.
  • Perform oversight of shop and field activities as required, ensuring work aligns with approved project strategies and providing coaching to crews.
  • Act as designated person in charge on alternate shifts when required, overseeing large crews.
  • Coordinate internal and vendor resources to remove roadblocks and support successful project execution.
  • Participate in key project meetings including design reviews, readiness reviews, risk management sessions, and implementation briefings.
