About The Position

The Senior HR & Labor Compliance Manager is an HR leader supporting a mixed union and non-union workforce across multiple locations in Rhode Island and Connecticut. This role oversees labor compliance, grievance administration, and core HR operations while partnering with leaders to strengthen performance management, talent development, and organizational effectiveness. Operations leaders manage day-to-day labor relations; this role serves as the subject-matter expert on collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), HR compliance, and complex employee matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5–8+ years of progressive HR experience supporting both union and non-union environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of CBAs, grievance administration, and employment law.
  • Proven ability to coach leaders and manage complex employee situations.

Nice To Haves

  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent certification
  • Master’s degree

Responsibilities

  • Serve as HR’s primary resource for interpretation and compliance with multiple CBAs and labor regulations.
  • Oversee grievance administration, investigations, documentation, and coordination with legal counsel as needed.
  • Advise leaders on contract application, disciplinary actions, and labor-related risk.
  • Oversee core HR operations including employee relations, onboarding/offboarding, recruiting coordination, HR policies, and benefits administration.
  • Manage employee benefits programs and lead annual open enrollment in partnership with brokers and vendors.
  • Lead performance management processes, employee training initiatives, and support succession planning.
  • Coach managers on effective people leadership, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, workers’ compensation, etc.).
  • Oversee HRIS data accuracy, reporting, and use metrics to inform decision-making.
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims and employee leave administration.
