About The Position

The Senior Group Sales Manager is responsible for leading the generation, negotiation, and management of high-value group business within assigned markets or segments. This role focuses on maximizing revenue through the strategic sale of guestrooms, meeting and event space, and food and beverage services while cultivating long-term client relationships. As a senior sales leader, this position plays a key role in driving group revenue strategy, mentoring peers when appropriate, and partnering closely with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless execution and exceptional guest satisfaction.

Requirements

  • A post-secondary diploma or degree in a field of study related to this profession; 2 years of experience in a comparable position and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous hotel sales experience within the luxury market; demonstrated selling skills; and proven achievements in selling, optimizing guest engagement and financial performance.
  • Must possess strong presentation skills, exceptional follow-up capabilities and a strong business development acumen.
  • Requires strong time management skills.
  • Experience successfully leading in a fast-paced environment and prioritizing demands.
  • Strong interpersonal and guest relations abilities, a flexible, dynamic and positive demeanor.
  • Must function optimally in a team environment.
  • Well versed in Sales & Marketing and Revenue Management financial aspects.
  • Technically savvy and familiar with Sales & Marketing operating/budgeting systems and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Professional & appropriate business appearance and demeanor aligned with the 1 Hotel brand and culture.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a quality luxury hotel brand; specifically in Sales & Marketing.
  • Prior experience with Delphi and HMS or similar Property Management System.
  • Knowledge of hotel structure and interaction between departments.
  • Flexibility to meet the demands of a 24-hour operation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the solicitation, negotiation, and contracting of group business within assigned territories or market segments
  • Strategically sell guestrooms, meeting and conference space, food and beverage, and ancillary services to maximize total revenue
  • Evaluate group opportunities to optimize profitability while aligning with brand standards and guest expectations
  • Develop and execute comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual group sales strategies and action plans
  • Achieve and exceed established group revenue and profitability goals
  • Build, maintain, and expand long-term relationships with key clients, planners, and decision-makers
  • Serve as a senior point of contact for complex, high-value, or strategic group accounts
  • Conduct proactive sales calls, site inspections, client presentations, familiarization trips, and industry events
  • Travel to assigned markets to cultivate new business and strengthen existing client relationships
  • Analyze market conditions, demand trends, and competitive intelligence to inform sales strategy
  • Collaborate with Global Sales Offices, tourism and convention bureaus, and brand partners to drive incremental group business
  • Partner with regional and sister properties to leverage brand exposure and cross-selling opportunities
  • Respond to RFPs and inquiries with compelling, timely, and accurate proposals
  • Prepare, negotiate, and finalize contracts in accordance with established pricing and approval guidelines
  • Accurately forecast group business and maintain detailed sales activity and pipeline reports
  • Utilize CRM tools to track opportunities, accounts, and performance metrics
  • Coordinate closely with Convention Services, Catering, Events, Revenue Management, and Operations to ensure flawless execution of contracted business
  • Participate in pre-event planning and post-event reviews to ensure service excellence and identify repeat business opportunities
  • Support sales leadership with market insights, mentoring, and best practices as needed
  • Represent the hotel professionally at industry functions, networking events, and client engagements
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall sales and business objectives
  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; properly store flammable materials
  • Ensure compliance with hotel policies, procedures, and standards with self and colleagues
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information
