The Senior Group & Catering Sales Manager is responsible for generating, managing, and maximizing group room, meetings, and catering revenue for the hotel. This role serves as a senior individual contributor and strategic leader within the Sales Department, focused on driving profitable group and event business while delivering exceptional client experiences. The Senior Manager proactively solicits new business, manages key accounts, negotiates complex contracts, and partners closely with operations teams to ensure seamless event execution. This role also provides mentorship and guidance to junior sales team members and supports departmental strategy, forecasting, and revenue optimization efforts. Please note: We are open to this role working remotely within Florida; with regular visits to property when needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred
  • 5–8 years of hotel group and/or catering sales experience, with demonstrated success in a senior or strategic role
  • Experience managing complex group programs and events preferred for similar size locations
  • Strong working knowledge of hotel sales and catering systems (Delphi.fdc, Opera, Salesforce, or similar)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and sales reporting tools
  • Advanced contract negotiation and financial analysis skills
  • Strong understanding of hotel operations and group business flow

Responsibilities

  • Proactively solicit and close group room blocks, meetings, conventions, and catering events to achieve and exceed revenue goals
  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of new and repeat group business
  • Negotiate complex contracts including room rates, concessions, meeting space, and catering minimums
  • Maximize total hotel revenue through rate integrity, space optimization, and upselling strategies
  • Actively participate in revenue strategy meetings and collaborate with Revenue Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned key accounts and high-value group clients
  • Build long-term relationships through consultative selling and personalized service
  • Conduct site inspections, client meetings, and familiarization tours
  • Manage group business from inquiry through contract, detailing, and post-event follow-up
  • Resolve escalated client issues with professionalism and urgency
  • Lead internal communication for assigned groups and events, ensuring accurate handoff to Catering, Banquets, Front Office, AV, Housekeeping, and Accounting
  • Review and approve Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), group resumes, and event documentation
  • Participate in and lead pre-event, pre-convention, and post-event meetings
  • Ensure event execution aligns with contracted expectations and brand standards
  • Serve as a mentor and subject-matter expert for Group & Catering Coordinator and Conference Service Manager
  • Support training, onboarding, and best-practice development within the sales team
  • Share market insights, account intelligence, and sales strategies with department leadership
  • Assist with workflow prioritization and coverage during peak business periods
  • Actively contribute to sales strategy, forecasting, budgeting, and pacing analysis
  • Maintain accurate account and opportunity data in sales systems (e.g., Delphi.fdc, Opera)
  • Monitor performance against revenue goals and identify gaps or opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with hotel, brand, and financial policies
