About The Position

This is a full-time hybrid role based in Seattle, WA OR Littleton, CO, with an expectation of one in-office day per week. About Housing Connector Housing Connector is a nonprofit that builds partnerships to increase access to housing for people facing barriers. About the Role The Senior Grants & Compliance Accountant owns the financial execution of our grant and contract portfolio, ensuring we meet all funding, reporting, and regulatory requirements with accuracy and consistency. This role sits at the intersection of finance and compliance, translating contract terms and funder requirements into clear financial processes, reporting, and controls. You will manage invoicing, track allowable use of funds, and maintain a comprehensive compliance calendar to ensure all obligations are met on time. As our funding portfolio grows in size and complexity, this role is critical to maintaining audit readiness and operational discipline. You will partner cross-functionally with Finance, Program, Development, and external partners to align financial reporting with program delivery while strengthening how we manage contracts, reporting workflows, and compliance requirements. This is a high-ownership individual contributor role. You are expected not only to execute but to improve and build the systems that connect contracts, budgets, invoicing, and reporting so the organization can scale responsibly and maintain trust with funders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, grants, or financial compliance
  • Experience managing grant invoicing, reporting, and audit support within a nonprofit environment
  • Strong understanding of grant compliance requirements, including interpreting and applying funding terms (e.g., Uniform Guidance / 2 CFR 200)
  • Experience managing restricted funds, cost allocation, and allowable vs. unallowable expenses
  • Experience managing reimbursement-based contracts, including invoicing and supporting documentation requirements
  • Experience working cross-functionally to align financial requirements with program or operational execution
  • Experience using accounting systems to track and report on grants (e.g., Sage Intacct or similar)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting single audits or complex funder audits
  • Experience building or improving grant tracking, reporting, or compliance processes
  • Familiarity with Sage Intacct
  • CPA or equivalent certification

Responsibilities

  • Grant Financial Management Own invoicing and financial reporting across government and philanthropic grants
  • Ensure alignment between contract requirements, budgets, and actuals
  • Track allowable vs. unallowable expenses in accordance with funder requirements
  • Contract & Compliance Review contracts to identify financial obligations, restrictions, and reporting requirements
  • Translate contract terms into clear financial workflows and tracking mechanisms
  • Maintain compliance calendars for reporting deadlines, registrations, and renewals
  • Audit Readiness & Support Prepare for and support single audits, compliance audits, and grant monitoring visits
  • Ensure documentation and reporting meet audit standards
  • Partner with external auditors and internal finance leadership
  • Systems & Process Improvement Build and improve systems to connect contracts, budgets, invoicing, and reporting
  • Support transition to and utilization of Sage Intacct for grant tracking
  • Simplify and standardize reporting processes across contracts
  • Cross-Functional Partnership Partner with program, development, and market teams to align financial requirements with execution
  • Advise on funding restrictions and reporting expectations
  • Serve as the primary resource for financial interpretation of contracts
