About The Position

In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating and approving residential loan applications, ensuring compliance with various regulations and guidelines. Your expertise will directly impact the accessibility of loans for borrowers, where attention to detail in reviewing income, assets, credit, and collateral is critical. As a key player in the underwriting team, you will provide support for complex submissions, assisting in training initiatives and fostering a collaborative environment.
Requirements
- Bachelorâs Degree or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of recent Mortgage Underwriting experience (FHA, VA, Conventional).
- Strong knowledge of ATR/QM requirements and mortgage insurance guidelines.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting production standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Nice To Haves
- DE, SAR and LAPP certifications strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate creditworthiness of borrowers based on detailed documentation.
- Ensure all loans meet corporate credit policy and compliance standards.
- Review loan files for accuracy and completeness before final approval.
- Analyze financial stability of self-employed individuals and their business income.
- Verify all necessary documentation is complete and accurate before closing.
- Communicate effectively with various stakeholders regarding loan statuses.
- Assist in the training of team members and support key initiatives.
