About The Position

Northstar Financial Advisory is a fast-growing outsourced accounting, bookkeeping, and tax firm supporting small to mid-sized businesses, with a foundation in the cannabis space and expanding into construction, healthcare, SaaS, and ecommerce. This role is designed for a leader to step in as a CFO, backed by a full finance team, to actively drive business strategy rather than just consulting or reporting. The Senior Fractional CFO will lead a fully integrated finance team, utilizing real-time data to provide timely and impactful advice to clients. The position focuses on building scalable, consistent, and excellent client service within a modern, tech-enabled finance model, influencing strategy for entrepreneurial businesses.

Requirements

• 8+ years in accounting or finance leadership
• Experience as a CFO, VP Finance, or senior finance leader
• Strong modeling, forecasting, and strategic thinking skills
• Ability to translate numbers into business decisions
• Comfortable managing multiple clients in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop Northstar’s client-facing CFO function across multiple engagements
• Manage, coach, and mentor CFOs and senior finance leaders serving clients
• Own Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Oversee client health, delivery quality, and escalation management across the portfolio
• Partner with the CEO to ensure client service is scalable, consistent, and excellent
• Build repeatable processes, best practices, and accountability across the client-facing team
• Own cash flow, forecasting, and budgeting
• Develop KPIs and dashboards that drive decisions
• Present to boards, investors, and lenders
• Guide capital strategy and transaction support (M&A, financing, etc.)
• Partner on tax strategy in real time
• Set the standard for client communication, strategic guidance, and financial leadership
