About The Position

The Senior Financial Analyst will play an integral role in helping drive value from our direct materials procurement categories. Specifically, the Senior Financial Analyst will partner with key sourcing leaders to ensure the successful delivery of near-term focused value while creating a sustainable platform for long-term growth. To accomplish these objectives, the role will be expected to provide sharp, proactive, timely insights and analysis which drive improved business decisions and - as a result - enhanced business outcomes. The role will also help drive enterprise-wide data initiatives, including but not limited to enhanced variance reporting, improved insights to category inflation, productivity opportunities, and other key data inputs to better understand the linkage between ERP system data elements and spend by category. Responsibilities will include assistance with financial modeling, forecasting and budgeting processes as well as effectively partnering with our sourcing team, analytics Center of Excellence (COE), IT, and BU finance teams to ensure productivity outcomes and inflation guidance are aligned with our P&L. The successful candidate will be an established leader with a proven track record of providing business decision support through the delivery of timely and meaningful insights and analysis. The successful candidate must have strategic capabilities as well as be hands-on and comfortable with tactical execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
  • 3+ years in in financial planning, analysis, and/or modeling
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to perform in a high-pressure environment
  • Past experience in Finance and Accounting roles; may include FP&A, Decision Support, and/or P&L accountability for key operations, functions, or business units within a company
  • Communication: Can build relationships and influence people across all levels in a matrix organization
  • Power BI: ability to navigate, modify, and develop models is essential
  • SAP / Hyperion systems knowledge and experience
  • Analytical skills: ability to analyze complex problems using data from multiple sources
  • Personal qualities: Resilient, driven, curious, flexible, positive, collaborative

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with raw commodities subject to market inflation a plus

Responsibilities

  • Finance business partner to Resin & Wax procurement category leads
  • Assist procurement team with financial guidance
  • Validate productivity outcomes resulting from competitive bid activities in the direct material sourcing categories ensuring that savings are accurately calculated, and actuals and forecasts are being updated, providing training support where necessary
  • Own Business Case development where applicable in support of category or enterprise objectives, consolidate multiple data sets into a single analysis that produces the optimal recommendation for Newell Brands, given current year and future year financial targets and strategic priorities
  • Support budget and forecast including inflation calculations; drive eventual automation within PowerBI environment, in addition to aligning key assumptions and forecast with BU finance teams
  • Model a culture that improves the organization's comfort with the speed of change, challenging assumptions, relentless pursuit of improvement - all with a high sense of personal accountability
  • Professionally challenge current and/or traditional ways of thinking and lead new ways/approaches
