About The Position

As a key member of the accounting team, the Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for executing key monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close and reporting responsibilities, including the preparation of various journal entries and reconciliations. Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this position, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic, critical thinking and attention to detail
  • Promote teamwork and professionalism
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
  • 4+ years of experience in either oil and gas accounting or a Big 4 Accounting Firm (required)
  • CPA (required)

Responsibilities

  • Execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close and reporting responsibilities
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Analyze lease operating statements, expense variance analyses, key operating statistics, price and volume variances, and operating results
  • Assist with research and application of technical accounting guidance, including US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
  • Work collaboratively, completing tasks assigned in the timeframe provided, and being flexible to assist with other tasks or issues
  • Collaborate and communicate with stakeholders across the Company
  • Evaluate internal controls and identify areas for improvement to ensure enhanced risk management and compliance
  • Assist the internal / external auditors in their review and audit procedures
  • Identify areas for increasing efficiency and effectiveness; implement and document those changes
  • Perform other duties as assigned
