About The Position

We are seeking highly experienced Field Engineers to support the construction of a critical NQA-1 concrete structure. Reporting to the Project Manager or designated Aecon representative, this role is responsible for ensuring that all field construction activities strictly comply with design drawings, 3D models, engineering specifications, ACI code requirements, and NQA-1 quality standards. This is not an entry-level or generalist role. We are intentionally raising the bar and are looking for senior civil engineers with proven expertise in rebar detailing, embedment coordination, concrete placement, and quality assurance in complex, highly regulated construction environments.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering or a combination of formal education and significant relevant technical experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a Field Engineer or Project Coordinator in large-scale, industrial, power, or process construction environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with: Rebar detailing, installation, and inspection Concrete placement and quality control in accordance with ACI code requirements NQA-1 concrete construction
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and enforce: Engineering specifications Rebar drawings and 3D models Quality and code requirements
  • Working knowledge of construction equipment, materials, and industry best practices.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
  • Proficiency with construction and engineering software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Maximo, SAP, or similar tools.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to hold the line on technical and quality requirements in the field.
  • Detail-oriented, disciplined, and quality-focused mindset.
  • Employment is contingent upon being granted access to customer sites.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical authority in the field, ensuring construction work complies with approved drawings, specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Review and interpret rebar drawings, embedment layouts, specifications, and 3D models to verify accurate installation and coordination with suppliers.
  • Verify that BBC/embedment suppliers meet all technical and contractual requirements.
  • Ensure rebar installation and concrete placement are performed in strict accordance with ACI codes, project specifications, and approved submittals.
  • Support construction of NQA-1 concrete foundations, including documentation, inspections, and quality records.
  • Lead daily coordination meetings with construction crews to review schedules, work plans, material availability, and readiness for execution.
  • Review and manage shop drawings, RFIs, material submittals, and technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify and proactively address risks related to production, quality, materials, equipment, or schedule.
  • Support development of work packages, field execution plans, and schedules.
  • Initiate, manage, and track inspections, certificates, permits, and quality documentation.
  • Coordinate subcontractor methods, manpower, and sequencing to maintain schedule and quality.
  • Manage project quantity tracking and cost coding in coordination with finance and accounting teams.
  • Support project closeout activities, including reconciliation of documentation with owner representatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support project success.
