About The Position

Zachry Engineering Corporation (ZEC) is seeking a Field Civil Engineer II to work out of construction sites and be responsible for layout and control, verifying that construction complies with engineering plans, and assisting with the placement of structural elements. This hands-on role requires strong technical skills and often involves working closely with construction crews and resolving issues that arise during construction. The ideal candidate can be located anywhere in the USA but will need to travel and work from the construction site at any of the client locations throughout the USA. Per Diem will be part of the compensation package.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 4 years of Site Civil Engineering experience.
  • Engineer in Training Certification and working towards Professional Engineer licensure.
  • AutoCAD and Civil 3D proficiency.
  • Experience with grading and Earthwork site design.
  • Experience with stormwater drainage analysis utilizing Autodesk Storm & Sanitary Analysis (SSA).
  • Environmental Permitting knowledge (NPDES, wetlands, 404, Phase 1 ESA).
  • Site layout experience (parking, access, roadways, ADA compatibility).
  • Experience with Roadway / Paving design & specifications.
  • Surveying knowledge (topographical, boundary, plats, coordinate systems).
  • Geotechnical knowledge (sitework prep, roadway / heavy haul paving design)
  • Security gate / fencing design.
  • Excellent Communication and Presentation Skills (Verbal and Written).
  • Travel and work from the construction site on a weekly basis is required.
  • Must posses authorization to work in the USA for any employer without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design and manage permits for civil engineering, land development and infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct site visits to ensure that the construction work aligns with design specifications and blueprints.
  • Prepare and modify engineering documents including reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates and design plans for projects using engineering and design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.).
  • Establish and verify survey control, lay out secondary control points for building elements like columns and walls.
  • Effectively use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, test and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics and topographical and geologic data and their impact on the planning and design of projects.
  • Recommend new approaches and ideas that continuously improve efficiency and services performed.
  • Apply knowledge and techniques of engineering and advanced mathematics.
  • Collaborate with team members on project tasks and assignments.
