About The Position

The Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE) is a University of Texas at Austin-supported semiconductor consortium of state and local government, preeminent defense electronics and semiconductor companies, national labs and nationally recognized academic institutions. Our mission is to develop and execute a state-of-the-art 3D Heterogenous Integration manufacturing technology roadmap, and to provide critical pilot manufacturing capabilities to address national security needs and catalyze domestic economic growth. The Senior Failure Analysis Lab Technician will run and maintain failure analysis (F/A) equipment and provide F/A results in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Eight years experience in sample preparation and failure analysis techniques
  • Goal-oriented and ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in teams

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or a higher degree in science, engineering or other relevant disciplines
  • Ten years experience in sample preparation and failure analysis techniques
  • Experience with semiconductor equipment and processes
  • Experience in a research or start-up environment

Responsibilities

  • Run dual-beam FIBs and SEM/X-Ray data collection with complementary surface science analytical tool operations
  • Perform detailed sample preparation to enable feature measurements, defect detection and domain-specific failure analysis
  • Present results, compile reports and work in a team incorporating feedback from engineers and other technicians
  • Develop processes-of-record and implement these on product samples for customers
  • Performs other related functions as assigned
