About The Position

As a key leader in the conservation sector, you will oversee a geographically complex business unit, working closely with various stakeholders to achieve significant conservation outcomes. Your role will involve not only regional leadership but also a substantial contribution to national priorities in conservation. You will hold the strategic vision that aligns the efforts of diverse teams, ensuring the organization meets its ambitious conservation goals across Micronesia and Polynesia. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 12 years of experience in the conservation arena or related fields
  • Experience in the Pacific Islands and commitment to global literacy
  • Proven management experience leading multidisciplinary teams across diverse geographies
  • Fluency in at least one Pacific Island language and English
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Experience engaging with diverse audiences including donors and community members
  • Successful track record in fundraising from both private and public sources

Responsibilities

  • Identify and drive conservation strategies and associated outcomes in the region
  • Spearhead innovative initiatives, such as Project Finance for Permanence (PFPs) and transboundary Marine Spatial Planning (MSP)
  • Lead high-level management and leadership responsibilities, both internally and externally
  • Develop and execute the Program’s new geographies
  • Collaborate with partners, stakeholders, and local and regional groups
  • Develop a sustainable staffing and funding plan that aligns with Chapter priorities
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson with internal and external audiences
  • Drive fundraising by setting and meeting fundraising goals
  • Collaborate with global programs to ensure alignment of joint conservation goals
  • Maintain a platform for staff from across different business units to work strategically in the region
